antihistamines... sigh

regarding the antihistamine, it might be market driven. My pharmacy told me i bought the last of theirs - that was 6 months ago and it hadn't come in again, but apparently nobody else had requested it because they had not followed up on availability either. So my impression is they didn't sell much of it.

Most people have long switched to 2nd generation antihistamines with a longer half life and more "convenient" 2ce daily dosing. The extended release products of the old antihistamines have a better chance of competing with those. Fwiw, I've tried 3 of the 2nd generation antihists, none worked. I even tried double dosing Zyrtek a few times (after reading that it was done in clinical trials without horrible consequences)... no difference.

I don't think many people use "stronger" doses of chlorpheniramine the way I did. Most people who would need them probably have an asthma dx and separate treatment. In order to avoid poop out, i also prefer a short-acting drug i can use sparingly. Only occasionally do I take stuff continuously for several days. There may be other 1st gen antihistamines still available but - brompheniramine (Dimetapp), which at one time worked for me, is not one of them; Benadryl has unpredictable effects on me - it can make me real sleepy or give me paradoxical agitation with odds of the latter increasing with dosage. I had nasty agitation once and would be afraid to use > 25mg at a time. I'd prefer a shot of adrenaline, quite honestly!

pollution, mass transportation

London does have some restrictions in place.

There is something similar to that here - the circulation bans are a separate, emergency measure.

I have not heard lately if the uptick in mass transport continued.

When I was living in California I noted a strongstrong push for less polluting ways of commuting in the Silicon Valley and SF areas. The carpool lane on interstates and expressways was strictly policed, and there were high fines for inappropriate use.

A great number of people carpooled at my workplace (and that was a big company). Also there were days of popular initiative, where folks were encouraged to bike or walk to work. My workplace held parties to sponsor these initiatives and flex time helped make the travel time acceptable.

(Conversely, flex time also allowed me to come and go at times when I could legally use the carpool lane for passing! ROFL :D:cool:)

Oh i'd be only too happy to oblige!!!

Departure and destination is on command of course! I think we'd have to chill regarding arrival times and trip details... far as I know magic carpets auto-navigate! :D;) They take the time they take.

I should not dare ask one to "step on it" or it could be more than a rough ride - we could wind up hanging on by our fingernails...
Mine are cut very short - not hangable-on-by! :Noooo:

I hope you are not suggesting we have a voice interface installed on our carpet, so we can interrogate it or have it narrate the trip??? That would take the magic out of it... :o ... dontcha think? ;)

Heehee Waves

On this very snowy day in my neck of the woods. Your post was very funny.

Trying to decide what to do about Derrick's Doctor's appt for his shot.

I am worried about driving it. I think I will cancel it.

So maybe not. Just be careful Donna.

I can drive in this.

Not sure yet, but I think about 5 inches here at my house.

Crazy weather all over. I seem to be sitting above the line of heavy stuff as it falls on those I work with. Down in DC and Baltimore they were really forgetting weather related emergency call outs were a huge risk for me. Now they get a taste of my winter.
No where to go tonight, or tomorrow, so I can stay warm and dry. Well, until Friday when the back end twist back into our area,

The wind is really coming off the mountain the gust are creeping and creeking threw the roof. Turned up the heat a bit.
Stay safe Donna!

Hi waves

You called that medication correctly, it is the jitterbug. I am shakey as the dose went up today. Just not sure with bi-polar if this is good for me. Seems to be making me agitated and nervous in an abnormal way. Stomach queeze. Is all that normal?. This feels more like prednisone which I don't react to very well either.
Sitting out today, no work just rest. I have 5 days on this then taper. I go back next monday. Gonna be an icky week. We sure do put up with stuff don't we??? Take care of yourself too Waves. Love all of you. ginnie:grouphug:

Di

I will stay as safe as I can. I have to take Derrick to get his last shot.

I have debated cancelling, but I really hate to do that. Because I messed
up the last time with this series and he had to start all over.

And I don't want that to happen again.

And then Devin's meds need picked up and I just offered to do that.

It looks like its stopped for now so it should be safe. We will see as
it gets closer.

To Donna

You are a brave and kind mother, Donna.

I wish you safe travels on these important errands you are undertaking for both your children.

Afterwards I hope you get some time to kick back and relax indoors, maybe with a cup of cocoa.

Well my husband was nice enough to take Derrick and I.

But I'm very mad to say the least at the school nurse. Seems she had
a conversation with the nurses in the office in January. And Derrick
has had all the shots he needs. And she was supposed to call me and
let me know. So why he still had an appt I do not know. But that doesn't
matter near as much as the fact that the nurse didn't let me know.

So I had told the nurse, that I either needed a note or something stating
the fact he had enough shots and nothing more was needed. Or she would
put him out of school. Or he was to get the shot anyway.

So she went and talked to the doctor. Came back with a note from him,
and the list of when his shots were. And said. That the nurse could take
this and if it didn't work. Then well I don't usually say those words.

But we all three had a laugh.

We went after Devin's meds, then ran a couple of errands and had a nice time.

And then went 4-wheeling in his new truck. So it was nice.
