no more snow....
Well... no snow today after all. :(
just very very light sprying on and off. tomorrow chance of rain is forecast, but no snow, and the rest of the week, partly cloudy, generally speaking. :Sigh: I figure we won't be seeing any more snow until next Winter. oh well. :o ~ waves ~ |
Hi, Waves,
I remember that cold rain is yucky to for one who is out and about. Snow would have been nice. Mari |
but luckily i didn't go out! now tomorrow... hmmm, we'll see.

:(:hissyfit::Bang-Head::Bawling::( all at the same time. luckily, I was not out and about today! :D it was a laid back day. watched some tv, snacked on my fennel twists and had a couple beers... tinkered on the 'puter. basically it. i didn't even cook today. we had steak and salad both of which were quick, last minute things that mom prepped. oh and a bowl of broth with broken thin spaghetti in it, "just to warm us up" ... we changed the air kinda late... and froze our butts off heheh, oops. :D ~ waves ~ |
It's snowing like crazy out there right now. My car is covered in snow, and it's accumulating on the ground.
We had a thunderstorm Saturday afternoon, and it had warmed up. Now it's 34 degrees. Those poor Spring Peepers. They are probably back in hibernation. BF:hug::hug::hug: |
Peepers and Blackbird hiding out!

Although we didn't get our "promised" snow, we did get the cold snap! I think our Blackbird must be hiding out with your Spring Peepers, coz I didn't hear a "peep" out of him all weekend! :( Yes, poor birdies. Well, at least here it will be warmer soon. I hope that is the case for you too. It sounds like you really enjoy the Springtime? :)   ~ waves ~ |
Waves,
Isn't it weird that everybody's dinner is steak and salad --- the easier dinner to make? The broth and noodles was a nice touch. I hope tomorrow brings nicer atmosphere. http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/computer-11.gif Mari |
Rain, umbrellas, and other Spring things
Quote:
We appear to have had a very light dusting of snow overnight - at least, mom thinks it is snow - I thought it was frozen heavy dewfall. (That's how light it is.) Temps now are above snowpoint and it is sprying again and it will probably continue. Looking out at 9:05 am, I see it is a gray day outside, completely overcast. Nonetheless, I feel like putting some Spring In My Step, and might indeed walk over to the eyeglass place and set the ball rolling. It is a short walk... not a stone's through, but in my down and really not far - closer than the post office. I have adequate clothing and protection for rain, and since I won't be riding buses etc etc, iI might even "stoop" to using an umbrella if it is called for. In general, I find it too a bother to carry an umbrella around - it gets wet so it's hard to put inside of bags, even if you do, then it adds weight, if you keep it out, it's cumbersome and one risks setting it down "momentarily" and leaving it someplace. Yes, that is my anti-umbrella spiel. It's odd really, because as a stand-alone object, I *love* umbrellas. I reall enjoy "umbrella-sighting" when it rains... I appreciate some of the patterns I see. I recall one I had as a child, it had pretty swans swimming around its periphery, and its colors were yellow, red, light blue and white. I loved that umbrella. When I used a car, I was a big fan of umbrellas. Indeed I kept them everywhere: one in the office, at least one at home, and typically two in the car (one to use, and an extra in case the first got displaced. (I lived in a place where rain and consequent umbrella displacement were frequent.) But enough about uh-humbrellas! :) ======================= EVERYONE Here's wishing you all a bright sunny day - or whichever sort of day you'd prefer - perhaps for many that would simply involve some warmer temps than you've been having! ;):):grouphug: ~ waves ~ |

COOL. http://www.easyfreesmileys.com/smile...mileys-368.gif Go out and execute a task or two. Report to us about the rain experience. I agree with the umbrella. Except I tend to "over" carry them if that makes sense. I have at least one (usually more) available to me at any place. Of course, IF it is raining I might not take it out and open it at all for the fact that it is awk and a little water is o.k. I do hate the once a year drenching that happens early in a work day when I am not with clothes that can dry out in a becoming way. jk. M |
rain rain...

I also carried at least one towel - not because I had read The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, but because I found I had genuine need of one on multiple occasions... Such as getting drenched in a three second dash from office to car (due to my office umbrella(s) having inadvertently ended up in the car ), then needing to to sit my wet self on the dry upholstery to drive home. Or wearing really nice shoes and, in order to preserve them, running barefoot to the car, and having to dry off the feet to drive safely. Yes, I suppose there are Wellington's but I was always more for the barefoot thing. I suppose I should count myself lucky never to have been hit by lightning in those whereabouts! Not like it was lacking! ;) Here, I sometimes see umbrellas I like at markets and such, but relucantly pass them by. Even when it "pours" by local standards, it is but a drizzle to me and unworthy of an umbrella, all the more unworthy of the hassle of hanging onto one through crowded public trans in addition to all of one's usual belongings, purchases, etc.. Having a car in which to keep these things. I seriously think people here would drown in a subtropical rain "shower." They have never seen drops as big as one's thumb... I think some would certainly faint, if not drown in that kind of rain. Quote:
Only once, in the decade I've been away (here), have I caught a drenching here. There was a 30 second anomalous dumping as I was crossing a busy street to catch a tram - no turning back. It was during late spring or early autumn... cool enough to be uncomfortable when wet, and the water itself was COLD... Yuck! 1.5 hour commute home with cold outside as evening rolled in, wet from waist down because my jeans had got soaked and dripped down INTO my boots! :( 'Can't say an umbrella would have helped much in that case, though. Right... time for.... OMG I was going to say lunch but it's almost time for LOST! (I missed it Friday evening - this is the repeat for that). ~ waves ~ |

I think I have access to episodes of LOST again. What episode are you up to and how many do you see a day? Do you see like one episode M,T,W,TH? Four days a week? Does your mother enjoy the show with you? Mari |
