I have not been there for a while.

yes we go there once a year to a place on santa rosa island and stay at a place called the paradise inn right across the street from the ocean but still on the sound side so we can put our feet into calm waters. You may remember 2 summers ago hurricane hanna was coming and we still went the normally still waters were very choppy and the wind was intense but we still enjoyed our short stay, less than 24 hours...It was a 6-7 hour drive, we tried to cancel but we were told to come ahead that the weather was fine even though we knew the hurricane was coming.we thought what the heck we will lose our monies for a night if we cancel might as well go and take our chances so we had a wonderful wonderful time for about 24 hours then woke up with hanna reminents knocking at the door. the manager let us leave and did not charge us...so we were happy about that. We drove out of the rain. Last year was fun this place has a tiki bar right ont he beach, last year I was bush wacked when jeff was making a beer run...wow those drinks dealt a punch!! and we met my cousin for dinner out. that was fun seeing them. Had great steaks at this irish place called mcguires....great food! Pensicola beach at night is wonderful.....that is where we saw the bioluminescense...the sparkling plankton when you stroke your hand against the sand at the edge of the water jsut after a wave comes in...you can only see this during a new moon when it is very dark out. something about a "red tide".....we will plan our trip around the moon cycle next year!

thanks for allowing me to talk about our trip.

I survived day one of my diet only by drinking 12 cups of fluid.
ate 1 1/2 cups of cooked chopped turnip greens, pork strips with peppers and cilantro and a tomatoe. I am stuffed! but hardly ate any thing during the day which is not good I know. Had a slim fast for lunch and some protein water.
I was still under calories even though I ate 9 ounces of pork!
today I went to the store and bought 4 ounce pieces of pork
(boneless pork chops) and individually wrapped them to freeze and same thing with this lean ground beef, made 4 ounce patties and froze them individually.
4 ounces of meat is all we need...jeff and I usually eat 8 ounces of meat.
so Psychologically eating only 4 ounces is going to be tough.
and not sauteing them in olive oil, only using the spray stuff makes a huge differnce. I used a little of chicken broth to cook the pork which worked well!
Are you tired of me yet and it is only day one......

Dear Beth,

I loved your description of your times in Pensacola.
It is a wonderful place.

You did well on your first day of your diet.
Don't worry about being perfect. You did fine today by meeting your goals to reduce intake. You will make more adjustments as you go a long.

What's on the plan for Tuesday??

Have not slept well the past 2 nights, canceled clients both mornings will have to work on saturday to make them up. I have been up late(not later than usual though) reading the twilight books, and it is so exciting right now...maybe I should not read them before bed?
so it is 12:25 and I will drink a slimfast then my protein water and see how I feel. have a couple of clients this after noon.
my sister has been doing weight watchers since early jan and has lost 16 pounds ...I am so proud of her.

I had potato soup from Subway for lunch.

I didn't get around to having breakfast. But that isn't unusual for
me.

I am still maintaining or losing my weight. Haven't weighed in a while.

total cholesterol =247

HDL The good stuff is high=129!!!!
Ldl is higher than it should be = 106

Heart actually...

Beth

your triglycerides are excellent!!!

And, actually, your LDL is not that high at all! Often, LDL is higher than HDL. So even though your total is high - but not terribly so, your ratio is very good, and the actual value of your LDL is in what is given as the "near optimal" range...

Here are some reference values given by Mayo Clinic - i had to re-format them as they were in tables - the source tables, as well as an article on the subject can be found at the following link:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/cho...levels/CL00001

Quote:

Total cholesterol

Desirable
- Below 200 mg/dL (5.2 mmol/L)

Borderline high
- 200-239 mg/dL (5.2-6.2 mmol/L)

High
- 240 mg/dL (6.2 mmol/L) and above

LDL cholesterol

Optimal for people at very high risk of heart disease
- Below 70 mg/dL (1.8 mmol/L)

Optimal for people at risk of heart disease
- Below 100 mg/dL (2.6 mmol/L)

Near optimal
- 100-129 mg/dL
(2.6-3.3 mmol/L)

Borderline high
- 130-159 mg/dL (3.4-4.1 mmol/L)

High
- 160-189 mg/dL (4.1-4.9 mmol/L)

Very high
- Above 190 mg/dL (4.9 mmol/L)

HDL cholesterol

Poor
- Men: Below 40 mg/dL (1 mmol/L)
- Women: Below 50 mg/dL (1.3 mmol/L)

Better
- 50-59 mg/dL (1.3-1.5 mmol/L)

Best
- 60 mg/dL (1.5 mmol/L) and above

Triglycerides

Desirable
- Below 150 mg/dL (1.7 mmol/L)

Borderline high
- 150-199 mg/dL (1.7-2.2 mmol/L)

High
- 200-499 mg/dL (2.3-5.6 mmol/L)

Very high
- 500 mg/dL (5.6 mmol/L) and above
