actually it is 11 (5 kilos).

that's about 1/3 of what i need to lose to feel reasonably comfortable.

i thought i had regained a pound or two when i had all that bread and pate and stuff for several days after the funeral, but maybe it was waterweight. whatever it was it disappeared and took more with it. my dad actually noticed today.

that is so fantastic.....if your father noticed ...wow....maybe you don't need to lose that much more.

i was afraid to weigh myself but today i had romaine lettuce and two cans of black bean soup and some sugar free ice fruit bars. I didn't make rice for a complete protein. It was so hot even though i had the ac on but i still wanted to eat a lot.

Dear Bobby,

That sounds like a great plan for the day.
We don't really need to worry about complete proteins in one dish as long as we eat a variety of foods: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm

Does Ornish discuss B12 supplements?

Your diet is encouraging me to go back to Joel Fuhrman's "Eat to Live" plan I followed two summers ago. http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ighlight=vegan
I felt much better when I ate on his plan (no animal fats, two huge salads a day, and so on.)
I have some black eyed peas soaking overnight so I can cook them tomorrow.

You are inspiring!

thanks guys! looks like the scale has finally started to move steadily! thank goodness... FINALLY!!!

Bobby, i do need to lose more weight. this is not a natural weight for me and i do not like it. Zyprexa put a lot more on me than i had ever gained in my entire life, even in periods of depression/comfort eating. i want it off.

vitamin D is less of a dietary concern, because our primary natural source is sunlight, not food. we cannot get enough from food alone, regardless what we eat.

vitamin B12 on the other hand is a big concern in diets which restrict meat or animal protein intake since those are the foods where B12 is most abundant.

i don't think you need worry though, Bobby - don't you get B12 shots regularly?

Hi
Ornish's diet is a whole way of life and he also talks about meditation etc., reducing stress, love, exercise etc.
I was surprised that he didn't mention vitamin D because there is an epidemic of deficiency.....I am deficient in vitamin d and take supplements and vitamin d affects so many things
Nutrient Excesses/Deficiencies

The Ornish Diet may be deficient in calcium, iron, vitamin B12, and essential fatty acids. Dr. Ornish recommends supplementation with these nutrients.

Who Benefits

Mari asked if Ornish mentioned b12. You are right. since i have pernicious anemia I have to get shots every month. My doctor told me she is seeing so many people in their twenties with pernicious anemia she doesn't know what is happening. Before she just saw it mainly in older people.
I went to my pulmonary doctor and he said the tests were negative. I asked him how much weight i needed to lose before the shortness of breath would ease. he said about thirty pounds. I also gave him an example of where my anxiety also affects my shortness of breath when i am walking. I told him about my getting a dog and he was thrilled. I mentioned his name will be Luc and he said are you kidding. I said no and he told me he and his wife are expecting a baby in two weeks and he will be called Luke. I told him when i come in next time I want to see a picture. Then he said he wanted to see a picture of my Luc.
My short term memory is acting funny. I don't know if it has to do with stress or the diet.
love
bobby
