the only problem I have is that I can never be present when we have company over. It is always a blur...it is almost like not being there.
I don't remember conversations....can only focus on the house and making sure that the meal was hot and that every thing that they needed was all there. preset the table of course. And I wanted to clean up after dinner we had all of these shrimp pieces every where and hubby kept telling me to stop and just leave the dishes in the sink, food stuff on the counter stuff on the stove........I tried but it bothered me to have a dirty kitchen with 2 big pots and pans, and all of the other things, they made margaritas, jsut sitting there a mess....I was ready for them to leave so I could clean up the kitchen.
Maybe if we had company more often I would not be so anxious about it.
We sat outside it was a beautiful day....wondered about the yard that was nice. the kitchen was out of sight.
then we hung out in the living room, again the kitchen was out of sight.
Paul our friend had abstained from drinking for lent, and was in full form and susan drived them home. I gave her the brownies so as not to be a temptation. It really was a beautiful day! and in the end enjoyed myself.

(with the kitchen out of sight!) i can appreciate the preoccupation with the kitchen in such circumstances... it is not like ordinary mess... it is like watching a disaster zone build up and not being allowed to prevent it. i think you are right, though, that if you had company more often you might take things more in stride.

i am glad that your shrimp turned out good and plentiful, that it was a pleasant day and especially that you enjoyed yourself in spite of everything.
