i know about that but i gained a lot of weight while on topamax...who knows maybe i would have gained more. I don't want to talk to my doctor because he will tell me to stay on it. I will experiment and see what happens again when i get off of it and risperdal. I will stay on the antidepressant welbutrin and klonopin. I have done this before. i am so tired of being tired all the time and afraid of what will happen when i start walking luc

yes please don't stop the topamax without talking to your doc first.

and whatever you do, do NOT stop it cold turkey it is an AED - unsafe to stop any AED cold turkey - but ESPECIALLY with the wellbutrin on board which lowers seizure threshold.

i am glad Luc is training better.

i would take turns crating them while Abby heals. you may also find that there behavior will change spontaneously upon her return from the vet - she will smell different... peculiar. and she won't be real 'with it' after the anesthesia. might be enough for Luc to steer clear, on instinct. i would probably keep Abby in the carrier for a bit when you get back from the vet's, see how they behave, and go from there.

good job on the caffeine! i am so proud of you. :)

i do have it :o - just not like before. when i have migraines i take extra as treatment.

Waves is right!
you will need to taper off of it.

i listened to you and tapered the topamax. you scared me. all i need is a seizure. i took abby to the vet and if all goes well will pick her up at three pm. then will see what happens between abby and luc....they have a real thing going which is driving me bonkers. luc barked and squealed when i left him this morning. when i came back and let him out of the crate i followed directions of a couple of books and didn't pay attention to him. hope that works

Dear Bobby,
I just caught up reading this and got concerned about the Topamax. I'm glad that you are still on it.

I hope Yuki is ok. Can you put her in the bathroom to keep her away from the puppy if you need to? I think that Waves is probably right and Luc will recognize that she is in healing mode and will leave her a lone.

Yes. That will work if you keep practicing it.

from the anesthesia

Dear Bobby,

how is Abby doing? is she still crated? is Luc being gentle around her?

i know it feels saw awful seeing a cat so out of it from anesthesia. she may be low energy for a few days yet, but that is normal too, don't worry. i am glad your vet wants you to call. she sounds good.

what about Yuki, how is she doing?

i hope you can get some rest. this was a big deal and a lot of stress. but at least it is over now, and hopefully the family dynamics will be more peaceful going forward... ;)

Abby is still crated. She was nonstop in the crate trying to figure out how to get out. She stopped for half an hour and then continued for a couple of hours more and has been asleep. She was literally climbing the crate's walls.
I don't know where she got her energy from. She finally drank a lot of water but she didn't eat. I am still spinning. Luc has been a doll. He hung around the crate for about an hour and then lost interest. Yuki is acting as if nothing has happened.
I hope Abby starts eating today. I haven't decided if I am going to let her out of the big crate or what. I might try to and see if she can jump. She has started this game with Luc about really teasing him and I don't think he has the sense since he is still only a puppy to realize she is still out of sorts.
I keep on telling myself that God is with me and all this new responsibility and stress I will be able to handle. but golly...it sure is different than getting drama from reading a book
love
