This is their 4th Johnson & Johnson recall in 7months?! I can't find which recall to check the lot number on the two containers of Tylenol I have. I'm confused -- not that it takes much these days. Regardless, I am going to throw these bottles in the trash and look for a different product. M. |

i wonder if there is a central recall lookup place, that might list lot numbers recalled to date, in numerical order.
that would make more sense than making people have to keep track of recalls so they can look in each batch of info for a lot number. but then again they might not do that because it might too much sense... or something. i can't blame you one bit for switching product, Mari. ~ waves ~ |

just a note that Tylenol is acetaminophen, which is more analgesic and less anti-inflammatory... it also has a very different profile than aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil) and other NSAIDs.
ibuprofen should be taken with food. it also has an anticoagulant effect, as does aspirin, and it is cleared through the kidneys. chronic high doses will stress the kidneys. acetaminophen is safe without food. it is excreted through the liver and chronic use of large doses (i'm talking very large - > 3g qd) can cause liver damage. Mari, one thing you might not be aware of is that paracetamol (Excedrin) and acetaminophen (Tylenol) are two commercial names for the same molecule. it is not even a different 'form' of the drug - it is the exact same drug. so you could consider Excedrin, generic brands of acetaminophen, or generic brands of paracetamol to substitute for the Tylenol, and you will not actually be changing drug but only manufacturer. quite honestly i don't take acetaminophen because it doesn't seem to work for me. but if it did i would, because it is less problematic in the usual dosage than any of the NSAIDs. ~ waves ~ |

Hi,
My discharge papers from the hospital stay after the stroke last July said 325 aspirin and tylenol. Later, I asked the internist what the Tylenol was. She said it didn't mean anything. I can take aspirin. But I am already on 325 aspirin everyday so Tylenol is good too. Or something like that. M. |

if you need to take more pain reliever in the morning or whenever it is that you take the 325mg aspirin, i would use additional aspirin rather than mix.
offhand, not sure about tylenol coadministration - i've 'heard' mixed things but never seen anything concrete to indicate problems so it may well be ok. but definitely avoid taking aspirin and other NSAIDs (like ibuprofen), at the same time. if you want to take ibuprofen or similar NSAID, make sure at least 4 hours have gone by since the aspirin. generally, the aspirin-like NSAIDs should not be intermixed. ~ waves ~ |
