Dear Nubiene,

Gabapentin has a low side effect profile. It is helping me with pain. The side effect is drowsiness and brain fog. I started at a lower dose than the doctor prescribed and have stayed there for now.

I will add that I take Gabapentin, for pain and nerve damage.

It helps a lot for mine.

spent afternoon with colleague's widow

Hi,

After my colleague-friend died in March, my work buddy and I told the widow she did not have to collect her husband's stuff until July.

Today hubby, work buddy, the widow, and I spent the afternoon sorting and boxing up 10 years work of books, files, and personal items.

After she left with a loaded rented van, the rest of us boxed up what she didn't want, dusted, wiped the walls, and got the room ready for painters.

(((Mari)))

that sounds like a difficult afternoon.
do you think it helped you in some way to connect with your friend's widow?
it was kind of you guys to help her out, and take off her hands what she didn't want...

i hope you are ok now.

Waves,

It's hard to connect to my friend's widow. She is not warm and open like my friend was.

The deep sadness I felt after of his March death has changed four months later to feelings of loss but not so much sadness.
I brought sodas, fruit, and pistachios for snacks. We worked in an office without the full a/c working. Perhaps I found it comforting to spend much of the day together for the sole purpose of taking care of his memory.

I hope so... that is a good way to look at it. I am glad your friend had you for a friend.

If you gave your hubby a big  from me, would he ? If not, do it! In any case, give yourself several!:hug::hug: :)

Prayers & arcs of positive great waves going out to Devin & Danny. And you.

Nubiene, I was on gabapentin for mood stabilization (not common these days I gather) & had a speech side effect even at low dose. Could not get words out.

BlueCarGal 07-17-2011 08:21 AM

You are a good soul.

 Mari.
You take me back to to the death of a a co-worker who had been a friend before I stared working there. We had so much in common & such fun! I knew her family treated her like a great weight, so it was not a surprise when they found her death such a nuisance.

They asked me to clean out her work space & give them "anything of value." I did. I gave them anything worth $, & anything Sue treasured I kept. I don't even feel guilty, even tho some of it's worth a few bucks.

Hey, Mari. ~ waves ~ is so right: You're showing all the signs of such positive healing from grief. I think it's a gift. Or maybe hard work...

I used to read Louise Hay a lot & found much wisdom & comfort there. Haven't thought of her work in a long time. Thanks for reminding me.:)
