Heart Me too. Love my iPad. Love my truck, & going away in my truck <with> my iPad.

Don't be sorry, BlueMajo!

The iPad is--IMHO--simply the coolest, niftiest, neatest electronic thingie that I have ever held (oh! so lovingly) in my hands...
...and which they shall have to pry from my cold dead hands if it's to escape the crematory!

Seriously, I would give up every other "thing" I have before surrendering my iPad.

I'll probably have a 2nd iPad much sooner than I've ever upgraded such things before-- now that I can less afford it.

So yes, in trying to be objective: If Derrick doesn't have small touch pad or small screen problems, I still would recommend the iPod touch considering Donna's situation. Without knowing what job he's going to end up in, I think it's the best "blind" choice balancing function & cost.
But I LOVE my iPad beyond all reason! Won't apologize!

Donna,

It depends on how good he is with his hands.

iPad = large screen -- is large enough for men's hands.

iPod = small screen = screen is simliar to a phone. It requires good use of fingers

Disk iPad or iPod ALSO depends on:

How good his eyes are. Does he get eye strain easily? Does he wear glasses to read?

iPad = large screen -- screen can easily contain a page in a book for reading, I wear reading glasses but don't have to with the iPad.

iPod = small screen -- screen is simliar to a phone. It requires good eyesight. If you're at all in need of reading glasses, you'll need them always here.

Thanks Ladies

We also have the option of finding some grants to help with his
needs. So I am thinking we need to deal with the need of his
fingers. And the need of glasses. And the fact that he sometimes
cant see small things.

We are thinking of getting him a different cell phone. But unless
my husband finally choses to let us both have email and gps.
Things like that on the phone it wont matter what we do on them.

He does have messaging, and does pretty good with it.
But he needs a different kind of phone for it. So I'm thinking
of getting something that will to a degree work for both if there
is such a thing.

It will also help with daily living skills. And school things.

This is something, we looked at when we went to the transition
forum we attended before we even knew he would be leaving
his program.

He and I are both sure it would be of help.

So now just to find the programs to help. We are thinking though
to find a way to get more than one. For more kids, maybe.

The iPhone can do what the iPod does.
The iPad does not have a phone feature.

Does he need to hook up to a printer to print?

Good question Mari.

It would probably be good to be able to print.
