Confused harassed by dysfunctional contracting firm

i emailed contractor yesterday about illness.
stated i had no contacts outside my boss who is away, and would he pls convey situation to client.

he replied he was away and to contact a colleague??? hello? what word didn't he understand??? anyway, i dropped it. couldn't deal.

today he texts me: HIS FIRM called him, saying a colleague called to inquire about me. ahhh, so he's away, but HIS FIRM IS OPEN!!! so does he tell them to call CLIENT back and say i'm sick? they MUST have the main number and probably more.

BUT NOOOOOOO. he texts me to "call one of them." AGAIN??? hello, the bit about no contacts???

A55!!!! his last info wrt illness is migraines. in which case i don't use pc much, barely aware of phone, and am knocked out a lot. but all HE can do is keep up the "i am away" mantra. well his FIRM isn't away! let THEM look up one ** number in a book i don't have and call their ** client before i have a nervous breakdown!

i have different phone book because my town is different area. granted, my problems right now are not migraines, but i am under no legal obligation to divulge illness characteristics. client firm has multiple sites/variants/hqs.... messy. took me ages to find my boss' nr that way, back when i did.

i will try to calm down. then i will try my boss' extension. maybe one of the guys can pick it up on their own phones, i don't know. if so, at least this will end (for now).

i am wanting to eat a whole packet of lorazepam. how much is 20 x 2.5mg???
50mg lorazepam. wonder how long that would put me out for.

Unhappy

thanks mari

i am really upset about this.

yes, it should count.

i am soo grrrrrrr just want to send him a termination letter and FORCE him to deal with client. oh sure, that would burn bridges alive. when i lose my cool i can really lose it. been there done that. so i'm trying to sit on my hands this time. i am reasoning. but i havee a knot in my stomach.

i am not sure that getting med cert/leave until he dumps me is going to do me any good. not if it means getting stressed out like this every week or whatever.

oh, and his text message also specified to tell them "when i foresee being back." my email YESTERDAY talked about seeing doctors (pl.) this week, and informing him afterwards. so now suddenly i am clairvoyant as to the results of doc visits not yet had?

i think he is not paying attention. or he doesn't buy into it. figures i took an extra week off since i had originally asked for 3 weeks vacation. come to think of it, it is very likely. nothin i can do about that.

thank you for letting me rant/vent.

I hope they can all get their heads out of their rears for you soon!

Red face to leave or to take leave... THAT is the question

well i did start to text back but couldn't word it reasonably without being a B.

so a bit later called my team-boss at the client's. it rang through to the operator who transferred me to the colleague that had called the contractor. he asked questions but didn't press.

monday the contractor is back and will no doubt be all over me. i want to avoid speaking so i will probably send email to say i am still not well. my anxiety levels are almost permanently through the roof. i jump when the fan squeaks.

i want to just send an "effective Sept 1, I QUIT, due to health reasons." others (even dad) advises to make use of the health leave, and if they don't recede, i can do so after the leave.

that feels dishonest because, to me, a "leave" implies a temporary absence with intent to return. in this case, it would be an economic maneuver, an attempt to push them to recede thereby avoiding a penalty for quitting without notice. it is irrelevant that i am too messed up to work right now, because when i am better, i want to do something ELSE, not go back there! so i have NO intent to return.

i may lose money on the deal, depending if they pay me my last month (net), then invoice me for the gross amount, or if they just don't pay me.

i prefer the honest track - it is true to me. pulling a money maneuver might glean a few more bucks but i know it would also make me feel like a dog. i don't need to feel worse than i already do.

Waves,

Can you explain your use of the word "recede"?
I think you are using it in a legal way . . I can gather what you mean by it. You say you don't want to recede.

Quote:
that feels dishonest because, to me, a "leave" implies a temporary absence with intent to return. in this case, it would be an economic maneuver, an attempt to push them to recede thereby avoiding a penalty for quitting without notice. it is irrelevant that i am too messed up to work right now, because when i am better, i want to do something ELSE, not go back there! so i have NO intent to return.

One thing that is clear here is that you have decided that you are not going back. This is big news! And a big change since this last weekend.

I sort of took a medical leave from one job and then did not go back and then was fired. I did not taking the medical leave willingly. I was forced. It was complicated.

Anyway. We each decide with how much honesty we we can live with. I don't think you are doing anything wrong. Lots of medical leaves are used as transitions.

I wonder if you make things harder for yourself by doing one thing and than feeling not ok about it (here and in other posts). It might be easier for you if you could
~ make decisions easier or
~ take an action (not going to work) and make a decision based on that action (medical leave)

I'm trying to be helpful. Really. I want whatever is best for you.

M.
