Heart snowed in up north

Hi Theta,

She's visiting up north... now trying to come home! I don't know snow stats for Louisiana - guessing a rarity but weird things happen at times.

I met a blizzard driving through Texas on I-10 once. Icewall built up between lanes, one foot high. Soooo many vehicles off the road (even 4x4's)! The median was full of them too, up to their windows in snow with more coming down thick. Have to guess a freak storm, considering so many ill-equipped and unprepared. Thankfully a guardian angel gave me some invaluable tips...

The tornado last evening hit Mobile, just 8 miles Over The Bay from us here.
It wrought quite some destruction. The second tornado in less than 7 days to hit the city of Mobile ... and tornadoes have never-on-record ever before been active in the City!
sorry to hear about that. must have been quite a scare for you... 8 miles is much too close to home!

hope things settle down over there, Theta. And I hope you had a good Christmas. Here's wishing you a super 2013.

The snow, and sleet came down just West of me. The same thing with the storm Sandy. The spiral arms of the storm where going counter clock wise, and hitting the other side of the mountain just West of me.

Those mountains also protect us from allot of bad weather that comes in from the Southwest. The mountains wear them down, and when the storms go over us,they usually have been weakened. BF

(They always hit North of I-10, and further East, in the flatter, rural, farmlands of the eastern counties of the Eastern Shore, much farther East and North of the Bay.)

Keep warm and cozy, bizi!
Helps us to remember never say never with the weather. We had a strong tornado hit us 6 years ago December 1 st. With all the 60 ft + pine trees taking lines down, roofs off, all roads off the mountain were blocked.

We have our Weather radio on all the time now. Be safe all and hope this crazy system passes soon.
Bizi,I hope you can get out to stock up soon.

Hi not sure what Bizi is up to now. But the weather in Indiana, is a little
better. We are digging out. But there is another smaller storm headed in
tonight. I came home today, because of it.

I was snowed in at Kokomo, and stayed a extra day because I didn't
feel it was safe to take Derrick to work and then come home.

So we stayed with my mom. And came home today.

They were so nice about it at Derrick's work. Just like normal.

Have to tell everyone, In Indianapolis. Everything was closing by
10am or noon on Wednesday because of the Blizzard weather we
had.

Another repeat tonight or early AM. The Pocono's will finally be getting decent skiing in. It is really cold, sharp to the bone cold. All winter I could stand at the door, tonight when I opened for my son, by the time he got inside I was frozen.

My tires are sucky too. I never had a chance last year to need them in the snow, now I find I need something better $1,000 for tires with no snow traction. Great rain, not snow...

Red face

WE werre visiting indiana for the holidays...so we saw snow, shoveled snow and then drove in it.
thankfully the weather gods were with us when we traveled back to louisiana...just rain and cooler temps here. supposed to be in the 50's tomorrow. so that is good.

Bizi

Heehee, you were in the Blizzard of 2012 in Indiana. Then I live
here and so was I.

I'm glad you got through it and then got home to the warmer weather.

Sure wish it would return here.
