My Dad is 92,and 1/2 years old,and has pneumonia. I don't know if he will live through that at his age. He forgot my birthday last month. I haven't heard from him in a long time. He told me a while back that he wanted to be left alone. He's in a nursing home.

My sister is still in guarded condition in a transitional hospital facility. She can only whisper. My brother in law said that he's heard her talk out loud when I wasn't there. She's still on oxygen that goes into her throat through a tube that was surgically implanted.

I am very sad,and hope that they both survive. BF

Please take care of yourself. Your father is in the best place he can be
to get the care he needs. Can you go visit with him? If so I would for
a little while one or two days a week. This will be some of the best medicine
he can get.

About your sister keep the faith, as you have been. She is a fighter, as you know. She will keep fighting. Since you can't get there very often.
Suggestion for you for her.

Tape record her some reading. Something that her nurse can start for her to listen too. That way you will be there more often for her.

And she can listen to things she enjoys by you reading them to her.

that makes it difficult to visit freely and sets up isolation for her...I hope that she is not.

She's in a room all by herself. There are computer monitors around her,and the tube that goes in her throat makes a washing sound at the wall behind her. BF

Oh Steve, I am so sorry. I remember your sister was in the hospital, but I had no idea she was still so bad off. My prayers for her and your dad to get better. Please don't be hard on yourself if you can't visit. You can only do what you can do. No more. Keeping you in my prayers too Steve.

Wow, it is pouring on you. I am glad your sister is making strides Steve. Things sound better. I am sorry to here about your Dad, I can't believe what a long life he had, but except his currant health problem. Some times as they age the heart gets weaker and congestive heart problems can cause fluid build up. Always remember he has had a longer life then I think any of us expect to have, each one a blessing, but your Dad may have been depressed in the nursing home wanting to be left alone. Go see him, if he can talk, have him share his great memories and hold them close. My Dad was 76 I was 46 when he passed and I miss him still. But, I have so many things he told me about the last several months he was with me.

He was living with me, but I kept his home next door going for the earlier good days. The last few weeks he was preparing to leave, sad, tired, but verbalized want a fulfilling life he had.

I am so sorry to hear about your dad being sick. Please know I will be praying for him.Take the time to visit him as much as you can even if he says he wants to be left alone.It is time you will never regret spending with him.I know because my mom was only 55 when she passed 18 years ago. He really doesn't want to be alone he is most likely just huet for some reason. I will be praying for you and your family.

this is so much to bear.

I hope you can visit your dad. If he is in bad shape with the pneumonia you can just sit with him and hold his hand. I like Donna's idea of recording your voice for your sister... check with the facility whether they will allow her to have the equipment in the room to listen, but I would think so, since there are other machines.

I send you much love and lots of (((( HUGGGGS )))). And send healing thoughts to your dad and sister. I will pray for them too.
