I am at the event ( late) and cannot find my people although I see random people related to the event but not to my team / task.

William canceled so I gave up two tickets via phone to one of my handlers. I will leave in three or four hrs . . . after set up and registration.

The rooms are hot but the hallway is cool so I shall stay at the huge registration desk the hallway with my clothes in a bag creating more wrinkles.

Oh geez, Mari. I'm so sorry you are crying. This all sounds quite dreadful.

I am hoping you are able to leave about now... it is almost 3 hours from when you posted you'd leave in maybe 3-4 hours.

That is a long time to have to hold out. I wish I'd got on here sooner, or that someone had. I'll be checking in more often the next hour or two.

Not exactly. I'm sitting up in bed... they way I normally am when I'm on the computer.

Hi,

I did listen to my music while nothing was happening and when people walking by asked me stuff not related to anything I was supposed to be doing, I pretended to be helpful. Mostly I pretended to be engaged in my music more than I was.
I figured I was staying on task by waiting for my team.
Also, I wanted not to engage out of fear that freak out anxiety or wild sadness would show up and be un forgivenly and unforgettably regretable.

Three ladies showed up who also needed to change in the hotel room a building away.
By the time we got back, Registration was underway and random people and students were working the desk and doing fine. Those of us officially assigned to the desk did back up.
It was chaos that went on for two or three hours.
We only made three errors seating people and two of those were mine.

I got home at 11:00 with the help of my phone.

Later I checked with William via text about how I recognized a man who is semi-related to our organization and VERY important but apparently not recognized by any one but me. I jumped off the desk, grabbed his hand, told him my name, and kind of pulled him through the crowds to help him get to the right room.
( He was quite capable of getting to his place with verbal directions but he had asked a question different from others that we had been answering and that could best be answered by show and tell. I wondered if I probably gave him more than he expected.)
I asked William if I was inappropriate. William thought I did a good thing.
