The one that I have used very successfully is a Coleman Portable Catalytic Space Heater, and the thing WORKS!!! It is fueled by those small 16.4 Oz propane tanks.

I have a small TV that is battery powered. I have scanners,LED lights, and glow sticks that light up a room. I usually have a full tank of gas in my car in case there is an emergency.

So I am ready if I have a power outage. I don't want to brag, but I have thought this thing through.

A long time ago I went through a power outage, and all that I had where candles, and they did not work. BF:hug::hug::hug:

Where did you get a tv? Do you hook it up to an antenna when you suspect a storm is coming? I have not had a battery tv since the tvs went digital in 2000.

Okay I have not heard of the rechargeable hand heaters.
I'm going to have to look for them. I really need something
more for my shoulder/arm area though. Any idea would be welcome.

But I'm wondering if my husband would use the hand ones. He works
were its just like a little over the cold outside.

He always says he is just happy he has a roof over his head.
And I agree with him. I remember last year at this time.

Right now he is working 10 hour days/ 5 days and 1 8 hour day/ ugh.

But we really like the money and need it. By the way he bought me
a new phone last weekend. Wow.

We were without power I'm guessing at least 4 hours this morning.
Maybe more. It was between 2am and 6am for sure.

And then we were the only county school not to call a 2 hour delay. Ugh,
I am not liking this new administration. I really miss our old superintendent.

Lafayette's three school corporations didn't have a 2 hour delay either. And
that I found bad. Two of their districts kids walk.

It was in the negatives this morning. I believe that was even before the
wind chilled.

I didn't take Derrick to work today. It just wasn't something I could do.

Have been suffering migraines thanks to the weather.

Donna,

Sharper Image has them at two for $50.00
http://www.sharperimage.com/si/view/...-Warmer/201889

Sears sells them one a piece:

This kind needs to be dropped into boiling water to warm up again:

This pack of 40 might be good to keep around for when the electricity goes out:

The A/C is out ! !

Hi,

We had to turn off the air-conditioning because it "froze" up.
The technician is supposed to come by tomorrow /Friday morning I hope.

It is 69 degrees outside and 75 degrees inside at this moment.
I normally keep the house between 73/74.
Hubby does not allow me to open windows. (He is more anxious than I am and windows are one of his issues.)

Please do not think this is silly.
ANY change bothers me and today I am feeling especially crummy --- grouchy, anxious, . . .

I really really need everything in my life to work smoothly.

The temperature inside went up to 76 and hubby went to bed for a "nap" so I opened one window.

I know what you mean mari,
I need things to be just right in my life as well.
I hate it though and know that change is inevitable.

I called my dad to ask about A/C's and he said something not helpful so I told him I had to get off the phone.

I am cranky as all get out. :mf_swordfight:
