Bizi,

You could think of those five days as a pause or hiatus or gap.
Now you are ready to get back on track.

Oh I like that Mari.

And I also remember you talking about Madri Gras Bizi.

So is that going to be a problem too.

If so maybe set a limited number of days you will allow yourself
to have some. That is not exactly making sense.

But just kind of start with the hiatus and go from there.

Maybe.

Bizi,

The list you made about what would happen when a person is AF sounds like a list of chores. (And the list of expectations is long.)
Instead, make a list of three things that you want to do that make you happy.
You could do one little tiny thing today or tomorrow that makes you happy.

Hey Bizi. Seeing alcoholic beverages around makes it difficult to stop. At this stage of trying to withdraw from alcohol,I'd look away from these beverages.

Sometimes my imagination goes through a tailspin, and I imagine what it was like to drink sometimes when I see a beer near me. I have to rip my imagination away from it. At this point in my life it is much easier for me to not take a drink. Actually I'm scared of alcoholic beverages because I remember what I went through to stop. I did it with much difficulty. I also lost all of my drinking buddies, but I found that they where not friends. They where fair weather friends.

If wine/beer/and other alcohol beverages are in sight, that brings about
50 percent of the temptation back. It becomes easy to justify giving in to it.

I'm just trying to help. I don't want to be intrusive in your life when this subject comes up. If you don't want me to say anything about this topic, please let me know. I only want to help you. BF

Hey Bizi. What helped me is replacement of thoughts during temptation. For instance when I would have a urge to drink,I read a verse from Psalm 23...He restores my soul... That's just one out of thousands of verses that brings relief when suddenly the bible becomes real to me(Us,and anyone listening) This is something that will work today, tomorrow, and forever.

I don't want to push. This is something to think about when you can,or decide to.

I hope that you are feeling better. BF

I sometimes read a Blog at PsychCentral called "Weightless". I don't read it because of food or weight issues but I generally just like the writer's perspective and ideas about positive reinforcement and the effects on our self-esteem.

I was reading one of the posts over there just now and I thought of you and wondered if you'd ever seen the Blog. Even though the whole blog covers many varied topics including food it's more, from my perspective, about wellbeing generally. It's very interesting. In many of her posts, one can replace the word "food" or "weight" for something else.

Letting go of what no longer serves us

Love yourself, bizi.
