:hug:Thanks to you all three.

I felt the hugs Waves. And they couldn't come at a better time.

As many probably have noticed I've been offline.

I fell last Tuesday the 15th of April. And will leave the hospital rehab tomorrow. Because insurance didn't want to pay for anymore.

Ugh, I hate that kind of thing.

I broke/badly sprained my left ankle. Yes, that is left
Then I also have a compound fracture in my right ankle area.
In the tibia. I believe they said, I broke it in three places.

Only in Donna manner does this happen.

I will be moving to the house Derrick will live in after I recover. And he will
be spending lots of the evenings with me. Probably Dale also, we haven't
gotten all the way through.

I am not going to have internet for a while.

For finding my last post.

I am still at Derricks to be home.

He hasn't exactly moved his stuff in yet. He is just getting ready.
With having to rearrange his schedule so he can still work.
He is having to stay with a friend to get there during the week.

Whose house are you in now?

Are you getting good care?

M

Dmom3005 05-26-2014 10:45 PM

I'm at Derrick's house.

I technically have some food in the house.
A friend who brings my lunch, when Derrick isn't
around.

And even my dinner some nights. Dale is having
a hard time working 10 hour days and getting supper.

So its a lot of help. She is helping me with my baths
too. Since I was dropped by home care for now.

I couldn't do any new things. yet.

Will be posting some new stuff. This is confusing.

Dmom3005 05-26-2014 10:48 PM

:grouphug:Okay I believe my accident is being picked up by Workers compensation.

I am really confused, because even though I was getting ready to
work. I didn't realize I was already covered.

I need them to state for sure they are picking up the medical.
So I can inform the Insurance person I was assigned.

Good part is I will not have to use my sick time.
I will get 2/3 rds pay from the company.
And I can then spread my 8 hours for vacation.

Its a win win if it is happening.

Any one have clues on workmans comp. I would appreciate it.

Well I can start to stand with walker and boot on. No more than 50lbs
of weight on the foot.

I will work that out.

Then in 2 weeks I can go up more.

I go back to the doctor the 24th of June.
No driving till then,

Donna:hug::grouphug:

bizi 05-27-2014 07:50 PM

there is a trick to helping you discover what is 50 pounds. take a bathroom scale and gently place your foot on it till it tells you 50 pounds, that simple.

waves 05-28-2014 02:13 PM

Good news that you can start to move around, and about the worker's comp! :)

I like the idea of using the scale to gauge the weight. Maybe you can even try stepping on it using the walker a few times, to check how much pressure you put on/can put on.

Keep feeling better! :):hug::hug:

Donna

Donna, there is a whole forum here at NT
Layoffs, Unemployment and Worker's Compensation Forum

Someone there might be able to give you some info..
There may be helpful posts in the Sticky section as well.

Dmom3005 05-28-2014 05:43 PM

Lara

Thank you for the suggestion.

Problem is its a very inactive room. And the questions there aren't being answered right now. But I plan to go back and do some research.

I believe the stickies are at least 4 or more years old. Not sure if they will help.

Donna:hug::grouphug:

Dmom3005 05-28-2014 05:45 PM

Thanks Ladies

So far the bathroom scale is down at my house. My husband was beat
last night when he dropped me off. I did work on getting up a little
today. But I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. So I'm going to request
he bring my scales.

Next question do I weight the boot separately. Or just let that be in the
weight also?

Ugh, I'm not comfortable but I will get there with this stuff.

Donna:hug::grouphug:

waves 05-28-2014 06:02 PM

Donna,

It does sound very uncomfortable. I'm sorry this happened to you.:hug: It will get better as you heal. And rest as much as you need. Rest helps heal.

Weigh with the boot on -- it "counts".

The weight limit is how much weight-bearing the leg is allowed to do. The orthotic boot is going to be supported by your leg ...unless it comes equipped with anti-gravity rockets? :D

Anything that adds to the weight borne by your leg "counts"... doesn't matter if it is a part of your own body or not.

:):hug::hug:

Dmom3005 05-28-2014 06:46 PM

Thanks Waves.

Its a Boscoe Boot, so I can double check about the rocks is it.

Sorry I'm off on names of things. My biggest thing right now is.
My boss of 13 years is retiring the end of June. Don't know who
will be taking over. But the director will have my back.
I want so bad to go to her surprise retirement party.
I am going to ask my friend, or another friend to take me.
And pay for us a room one or two nights. Its a long trip.

The other issues are family related. Even though originally
the new provider company was fantastic. We hit some waves
the last couple of weeks. Hopefully to be straightened out
next week. But Derrick wont tell me, and at least he has my
friend to talk to about it. He will make a call to higher ups if
necessary.

Next This is fantastic news in one way. And another I feel guilty.
My son Devin got a job, paying 11 dollars a hour. He worked
one week of days learning a fork lift. Must have done great, because
it was supposed to be two weeks. Then on Monday night he went
in for the 3rd shift. But he has a slight problem were to leave Will.
He thought his roommate would do it. But she isn't being responsible.
So my responsible son, asked Will's mom to keep him at night.
And he picks him up and takes to school. I believe its going to work
out Will is spending at least June with his mom.

I am hoping I can help take over in July, with Derrick's help. Because
he needs to go to speech.

Donna,

Sorry. I appear to have confused you.

I was making a very, very silly joke with the rockets comment. It doesn't matter what kind of boot it is -- if you are going to be wearing it, its weight counts. ;)

Mari 05-29-2014 02:03 AM

Donna, :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Maybe in a month you will be stronger and you can go to the retirement.
Stay flexible.

I hope that Derrick and the friend can get things worked out for you.

Will has a good place to sleep at night and that is good.
His speech therapy can wait a month.
He will be o.k. while you recover and while.
I wish Devin good luck on his new job.

Mari

Dmom3005 05-29-2014 08:20 AM

I am going to work on going to the retirement party.

Also got permission to take as many of my volunteers as
would like to go. I only have a few I'd ask. So checking
to see if one of the hotels has suites. So it would maybe
accommodate up to 4 or 5 of my volunteers.

We are definitely going.

I need to reserve a room for two nights.

I don't mind the bills its something really important to me.

And I'm looking forward to not being stuck in a room with 4
walls.
