I take 200mg of Topamax a day. It's used as a mood stabilizer, but it helps with my migraines. I would have no idea if it was causing me any side effects as I'm on so many other meds.

Bobby, if you feel like you could benefit from a med like topamax right now, there are other mood stabilizers out there. You can ask your pdoc if trying one is a good option for you. Have you ever been on lamictal?

Dave, I'm so sorry you've had bad experiences with two therapists. I can understand why it would be hard to trust another one. When you are ready, you needn't be an open book... you can control the speed and trajectory of the sessions. Emphasis on control.

i tried lamictal and had trouble with my gums which is a rare side effect. I tried seroquel which turned me into a zombie. I don't know what to do. Maybe Mari is right and i go on it for a few weeks until I have recovered from all the stress that has been occurring. I really am all over the place.

I was posting while you were posting Bobby lol.

I'm so glad Alex sent you the picture of his kids… and signed it with love. It's great that you have your nephews back in your life again

Posting on the weight loss forum with Dave and Bizi sounds like a good idea. It's always good to have an extra support system

You don't have to choose the drugs yourself. You can discuss new drugs and your med history with your pdoc before you decide on treatment.

I do have memory problems. I have a host of cognitive problems from MS- I had them before I was on any psychiatric meds aside from klonopin, and before I was diagnosed as bipolar.
I can tell you now that lithium effected my memory, but I wasn't aware of it at the time. And I was on it for 7-8yrs.
Because I already have memory problems, it makes that side effect harder to spot, especially if it's a subtle difference. I kinda need my husband to do that for me now. But even being tired makes my cognitive problems worse.

Bobbi
What you described is what it looked like with Derrick when we tried the
Topamax for about 6 weeks at the most. When I got a call from his summer school teacher who had him for the summers. So I knew she knew what
she was talking about. It would take him at least 10 minutes to put together a answer to any question. Even simple like his name or something like that.

Have you tried Zonegran, if Lamictal worked to a degree you might want to look into it. Its something that is close to Lamictal that has less side effects. Derrick was on both.

Cool Smirk

No bobby, nothing for my Anxiety. I was taking Metoprolol, the Beta blocker, but my Cardiologist changed my heart meds and took me off them. Meditation was working for both Anxiety and Depression relief, but my physical pain is so bad now I cannot manage it.

Dave.
