Second shift can be the hardest of the three shifts but people can adjust to it and
maybe it will work out. Good luck to both of you. M |
My MS is active...
Legs again. Mainly the left one is f***ed up. I'm walking funny, having an increase in spasticity, and numbness. I was exhausted yesterday afternoon, but couldn't fall asleep because of the spasms in my legs. I smoked pot, and that helped with the spasticity, but I still couldn't fall asleep because I was having catastrophic thinking in regards to my MS. When I woke up this morning, the problems with my left leg were worse. I guess I should notify my neuro, and see what he says. I take small steps in the apartment, but I walk differently when I'm out. To be safe, I will try walking to the mail box with Corey before I try to go to my pdoc appointment by myself. I made Corey breakfast and lunch before he went to work, and stayed up and waited for him to come home last night. He got back earlier than expected. I stayed up with him until about 1am, and slept in a little until 6:30 this morning. I don't know if I'll be able to stay up that late again tonight tho. It was good to see Judy. She is dropping her baby weight fast! I don't love the nail color I chose, but they still look good. I almost fell walking back to my car. |
When do you get another infusion? will that help with your symptoms?
bizi |
I have a Tysabri infusion on Wednesday. It's supposed to slow down the progression of symptoms of MS by decreasing the number of episodes a patient has, but it doesn't help with acute symptoms.
For many acute relapses, neuro's will prescribe a 3-5 day course of IV solumedrol, but I can't take steroids because they make me manic, which is dangerous. I didn't call my neuro or drop him a note yesterday. I didn't think it was urgent to notify him since I'm not seeking that treatment. Fortunately, things haven't gotten any worse since yesterday. I'm having night sweats right now, too. I've had this combination of problems before even though night sweats aren't a sx of MS. I don't remember if it turned out to be a "true relapse" that lasted over 7 days, or it was a pseudo-relapse where my MS went haywire in response to whatever was causing the night sweats (never figured that out). So maybe my current symptoms will get better if the night sweats go away. IDK... Come Monday, if I'm still having night sweats, I'll call for an appointment with my PCP. I've had some funky blood work for a while, so maybe there's some kind of connection there. Either way, I will drop my neuro a note through the patient portal to let him know what's going on. My pdoc said that the night sweats could be a symptom of withdrawl because I cut my Klonopin in half tho. I had already bumped it back up yesterday morning because I needed to tho. Maybe that will help? She's concerned about my anxiety level and said I probably should be taking more even if it makes me sleepy (as long as I'm not driving). She didn't change any of my meds. |
Thank you for explaining and for the update.
I don't think cutting your klonipin in half was a good idea.... Could you be perimenopausal? could that be the reason for the night sweats? I have heard that you can start having symptoms for ten years before you actually finish. Just a thought. (((((HUGS))) bizi |
Are the night sweats better with the regular dose of Klonopin?
I wish that something worked as well as the benzos without causing the side effects of reducing. M |
I did consider that I may be having hot flashes. I'm only 37 tho, they only happen when I'm sleeping, and everything else is "regular," so it seems unlikely to me.
I started taking the 1mg dose of Klonopin again Friday and I didn't wake up from yesterday's nap or wake up this morning drenched, so maybe the night sweats really were because of Klonopin withdrawls. IDK. I guess I will have to wait and see if they return or not. It WAS a bad idea to cut back on the Klonopin. But at the time, I was just really concerned about how tired I was and how much I was sleeping. I forget that cutting back can cause these problems. It was not good timing either with everything that's been going on. I really need more than the 1mg, but I hate to go there. I went grocery shopping yesterday. Too much walking, but I had to get it done. With Corey being on second shift now, I had no idea what to buy, so I just winged it. I can always go shopping again if I need to (YAY). I guess this week will be a learning curve. He said something last night about this second shift job will last a month. It's already screwing me up, so I'm not happy about it. |
Thinking of you this morning.
((((HUGS)))) bizi |
I'm mostly doing better getting around the apartment when I'm not too tired. I think I've adapted a little to the gait changes. Outside... not so much... I'm pretty much stumbly. I am going to write my neuro a note, but it's hard to explain the changes.
So far no more night sweats :) I have to have a basic metabolic profile repeated around the 20th. I'm going to write a note to my PCP asking him to order another CBC with diff because I have had mild lymphocytosis since September just in case the night sweats were related to that. I fell asleep on the couch somewhere between 9-10 last night even though I hadn't smoked any MJ. I got up around 2am, and wasn't about to smoke at that hour, so I was up on and off in the early morning hours with the spasms in my legs. |
Who knows about the night sweats. I first started them years before.I would have one every 6 months. Maybe it was something else?
I am sorry about the poor sleep that you got. please be extra careful when walking out doors. How is your weather? It was in the 40's this morning. Burr! The house is cold. Don't want to turn the heat up as it will get into the 70's later today. I am working later than usual as jeff is out of town. Should be home before 7pm if all goes as planned. maybe earlier. bizi |
