yesterday I went out with cecilia for dinner. I almost fell three times.I tried to go up the curb and lost my balance but cecilia caught me. then was level walking and I lost my balance and again cecilia caught me. then I had the hardest time climbing the two stairs to the restaurant and cecilia supported me as I started swinging

I'm so sorry about the falls and the close calls!!!:hug::hug:
I'm so glad that you didn't injure yourself worse. How is your back?

I'm very concerned that this is happening so often, and out of the blue...
How do your legs feel when you walk? Is it a weakness just in your bad leg, weakness in general, or do you feel another change?

You were having some back pain before all of this. Was it a sharp pain or a dull pain, etc?

Are you still working with the PT?

I hope that your back feels better soon :hug::hug:

Please don't walk outside of your apartment by yourself until you feel more steady, and be very careful when you are at home. You are precious and loved (((HUGS)))

it is a dull pain across my lower back. before it was just on my weak side. I am still seeing the p.t. I want her to have me walk up and down stairs. I think I got worse and I am scared. I rode the bike two days ago for 17 minutes. I wonder if that had anything to do with it. also on one of the exercises called clams she pushed my weak leg down a few times. I don't think she should have done it. she had me squat without touching the bed. She just started that a couple of times ago. the antidepressants are working. I don't really feel steady. I think it is my right leg. Gapentin supposed helps nerve pain'

Bobby

Yes, gabapentin does help nerve pain. So be careful if it should
start making you see that your body doesn't hurt as much. It
might make you think your stronger than you are. Just meaning
don't stop being careful when you walk. I used to take gabapentin
and loved taking it. I didn't have to worry about being careful
when I walked because I found I was clumsy period. So I was careful
walking period.

Maybe if when you go out you could find a cane you like to use. It would
help steady you. My daughter-in-law Meluvja has an leg brace but before
she got that she always had her cane with her. I also have an cane.
But the one in my car isn't exactly the one I like I have to figure out why.
Its something about the size, its not exactly high enough I think.

So I'm looking at it.

I am going to use my recumbent bike more often .It says it is good for lower back pain and that was part of the problem.

OhKay 03-05-2019 08:49 AM

The recumbent bike is a good idea, but 17 minutes is a long time. How long were you riding it for before?

Gabapentin is really good for neurological pain. That's why most people take it. I used to take a TON of it for my pain, but it no longer works for me for that purpose. It can cause a sedation and put you at a greater risk for falls. Since this is a new med for you, maybe that is what is causing the falls/close calls? It takes a little while to adjust to any dose.

mymorgy 03-05-2019 09:04 AM

I think the p.t. is pushing me too hard and making my muscles hurt. I think i over did it with 17 minutes. I am going to try five minutes twice a day. I keep
on thinking that God is with me so I shouldn't be lonely. I started buying again and eating things I shouldn't eat like ice cream and potato chips.

OhKay 03-06-2019 09:25 AM

I think 5 minutes a day is reasonable, Bobby. 17 minutes is a lot. Overuse of your muscles could cause weakness and make you prone to falls. If you're being overworked at PT, too that would just make things worse :hug::hug:

I would ask the PT to reassess you because of your recent falls/near misses to see if she can detect any new issues JIK something new is going on.

Do you think you are buying more and eating things you shouldn't because of loneliness?:hug::hug:
