Thank you, ladies :grouphug:

I have no idea if I'm a little too high or not right now
I just know that I'm doing okay, and handling things well, so I'm not worried, which is nice after having to worry about myself for so long.

I am pretty friggen nervous about the appointment with the surgeon today tho. My brother is bringing me, so that will help some.

I had to take mag. citrate Wednesday night, but I fell asleep on the couch before I got around to drinking it tho lol. So, I woke up around midnight and had to force it down. It was because I had decided to smoke before I took it this time to try prevent the usual nausea it causes... and it worked! Maybe I will be less reluctant to take it now knowing that it won't make me feel as sick if I smoke first.

I could have killed Dottie yesterday!!! She missed the box again, and she got pee all over the litter mat, and it leaked below and behind the box, and all over the Pergo floor! So I had to bleach the litter mat, then sweep the floor, and get on my hands and knees to clean the bottom of the huge cat box and the effected floor with vinegar and water. Then I cleaned the whole kitchen floor for good measure. After that, I moved onto the bathroom because the dirty litter mat contaminated the shower, and I had been using the toilet a lot, so it just made sense...

So, I took a real beating. I can't be cleaning like that, but she's going to continue to miss the litter box from time to time because she likes to pee up against the front side of it. I'm going to have to buy a BIG litter mat that will prevent the urine from leaking onto the floor. I will start looking today if I have time.

My brother is picking me up at 12:45pm. today I have to go to the dispensary before he comes to pick me up tho. The MMJ I just bought prevents me from sleeping, and I'm all out of the stuff that doesn't. I don't buy much when I go, and it's taking me more to control my symptoms now, so I have to more often. I don't know when they open, but I want to go early so I don't have to worry about not being ready to go when he comes to pick me up...

So, I'm going to take an early shower now, and get back online when I can

I'm sorry I haven't written. I have a list of long-ranging excuses tho lol.
I'm okay, but I don't feel good, or up to writing about anything at all right now. So, this is just a welfare check.

The appointment with the surgeon went really well, and I look forward to telling you all how it went when I'm feeling better.

Thanks for checking in, Kay.

I hope that you feel better.

When I got back from the dispensary on Friday, I had a hard time with my computer. I either couldn't get online, or couldn't stay online. I couldn't access MS Word to edit or print my med list either, so I had to write in the changes before going to the surgeon. That meant I couldn't come back to read or post on the forum as planned while waiting for my brother to pick me up.

I got pretty much no sleep Friday night. We had Chinese food, and at 3am I woke up with "dry diarrhea." meaning I had the pain, and had to go, but couldn't. That went on for 12 F'ING HOURS yesterday. I kept trying to go to the BR, but couldn't because I have an impaction somewhere. It's extremely painful, and I felt absolutely miserable. While I was in the shower around noon, I realized I may have been feeling so terrible partly because I missed a dose of meds, and when I checked, I found out I did.. my night and day meds. So I took my day pills, but they didn't help much...
What is it going to take for me to stop making these f'ing med mistakes?!?!

I took mag. citrate last night, and it's working slowly, but IDK if it will clear the impaction. I have to call my gastro's office tomorrow to update them about the visit with the surgeon, so if I think it's still there, I will ask for advice.

I do feel much, much better this morning tho :):):)

Having my brother with me to go see the surgeon was very comforting, and thank God he drove. Even though this office is outside Boston, it's a hell of a drive.

The appointment went very well. She is sooooo nice! She spent about an hour with me (I felt bad for my poor brother sitting in the waiting room tho). She showed me the images from the gross defecography study, and now it makes sense why I feel the way I do, and am having some of the problems I've been having.

Just removing my herniated sigmoid colon wouldn't provide me any relief because I have severe motility problems from the MS, so I'm going to have a subtotal colectomy, which means she's going to remove almost all of my colon, except for a small piece- not so big that I won't still be too constipated, and not so small that I'll have too much diarrhea. There's no way to know where I'll end up, but it HAS TO BE BETTER than what I'm dealing with now.

She's not going to address the other two problems now. They may not even need to be surgically repaired. To simplify things, I won't even go there.

She's concerned about my nutritional status because I haven't been eating well, and if someone's nutrition's poor, it can impede healing. She had me have a lot of blood work done, and is going to call me this week.

I'm sure I will have another appointment with her before the surgery is scheduled. I don't know when that will be. I bet I will have to go into Boston at some point to have some tests done, and I know I will have to go there to meet with the anesthesiologists before surgery, too.
The surgery usually takes 5-6hrs, and the expected hospital stay is 3 days to a week.

More than anything, I feel relieved. Especially after yesterday. I would go in and have it done today if I could.

I am so glad she was so nice!!!

Hi, Kay,

Good that your brother drove and that you like the surgeon.

I'm happy to hear that her plan makes sense to you.

Kay

I'm so glad you like the surgeon is so correct. I hope things
go fast to have the surgery. I know how you need this.
