i already mentioned that months ago i asked the super for a bar and he said it was against the rules
i also wonder what the difference would be between taking a shower on the stool or taking a bath. in both instances i would still have to get out of the bathtub.

It's so hard having the shower in the bathtub. I'm the same here. I deal with vertigo so there have been times back when I was ill and feeling weak in the past couple of years where it was actually scary having to step over the side of the bath and stand there for a shower. Having an actual bath was out of the question.

I get what you mean about having a bath on a stool or having a shower in the bath causing the same problems with stepping over and out but if the stepping in and out is the main danger for you then maybe consider something like the bathtub sliding transfer bench seats.

What a pain they won't allow railings... that's like discrimination isn't it? I mean, how hard is it for them to putty up a couple of screw holes in the wall if you moved to another place.

I was just looking in go o gle images at the sliding bath benches. They even have them with swivel seats rather than sliders. I'm not sure how the health system works where you are for those in home safety equipment gadgets. Maybe you could talk to your doctor as Donna suggested earlier. Your insurance could maybe pay or help pay for something like that. It sounds as if it's really needed as you really can't afford to have even one more fall. Not sure if you said you had one or not, but also the hand held shower. They're not hard to install either.

I've never said, this in here but I don't take a shower or bath any more.
I just do a clean up outside the bath. Because of the problem of
being able to get in and out. Because I'm usually by myself when
I want to take a bath, and my bathrooms are very narrow. And getting
a transfer seat for my bathroom is not really something I can get in and
out. Because most are heavy for me.

My husband is still getting used to the idea of the bars. Because he is
still in denial of the fall factor for me. So I have a membership
to a gym in town that I'll go and take a shower when I'm in town
each week. But otherwise, unless Derrick is out here.

Or when my husband gets home when its not to late. I just
clean up and then am fine.

the bench is suited well forgetting in and out of the shower while seated.
while seated you just raise your legs over the tub and shimmy your self across the bench.
I am glad to hear that you have a shower chair.
I hate taking bathes as I take up all of the space because I am so heavy.
Last time I took a bath last year at the beach, I hurt myself getting out of the tub. you can also put a towel on the floor of the tub to stand on and thend one when you get out of the tub on the floor. Don't know how often you shower this would required lots of towels if you take them daily.

i am also very heavy and might be scared of a bar and wouldn't even know where to put it,
i just bought one transfer bar and amazon cancelled for technical reasons. my bathroom is small and the sink that i have held onto is so close to the tub.

i will look into and i do have a handheld shower. i am really afraid now. wow they are really expensive and again because the sink is close to the bath i don't think there is enough room.

wow i am glad you are staying safe. i bought a lot of towels because right now i am going to do what you do. i no longer have leg pain from my last fall so i am going to try to force myself to use the bike and strengthen my legs..

marci does the laundry. i couldn't do it because i need a walker and can only carry a little weight.i also just bought non slip stickers for the tub.
i usually take a bath each day. i really don't like showers. i just bought glycerin soap because it doesn't lather so it might not be slippery. i ordered a nonskid mat to put outside the tub. towels would be dangerous
my spelling recently is going hill. i noticed after i had the vaccine. before i never had trouble.

now i am even more scared. my balance isn't good. i am going to wash my hair in the sink and see how well that goes. i only slept for 3 hours. i washed myself with a towel and soap.
i think i lost a pound or two. i have been having some almonds, coffee and low sodium chicken noodle soup but last i had canned lentil soup. when i finish those cans i won't buy anymore because they are high in sodium. i wonder that i can lose a lot more weight it will be easier to walk and keep my balance. i have got to start reading now. i wake so depressed and now this.
