I am trying to be more positive about it, I just can't handle pain, but I will the best I can, I will do the PT, I will get past this.

I may be a PIA in the mean time though.....LOL

I know I will be better in the long run, geesh the recovery is more of my worry, than the surgery.

Thanks everyone, Hugs, Nikko

Heart ((((nikko)))

nikko,

this surgery has come a long way in the last few years. being in the health club biz i have known hundreds who have this done.

it used to be huge scar, months of recoup and pt. now that is rarely the case. it's less invasive. little scars and more soreness than pain. ( from what members tell me)

the big thing is not to over do it. you are used to the pain and soreness you have now. from what members tell me, it's like that at first. make you feel like "what the heck...it's not fixed ". but then healing starts and the pain and range of motion comes back.

i tore mine years ago. back in my competing days. lots of pt and injections. so far no surgery.

sending you lots of healing prayers.

Hi,

You sound like you are doing a pretty good job of staying upbeat. It will help your recovery. Focus on each day at a a time and try not to look ahead too much.

the recovery is going to be a real test for you. you are so busy helping out your mother that I am afraid it is a built in reflex. Maybe this is a great opportunity to learn to take care of your own needs first.
Again, have you ever contacted the department of aging for help with your mother? They use a sliding scale fee. The more expenses you list, the lower the fee for help.

My mom is doing really well, since all the PT. She knows I won't be able to do things, so she has already started doing things for herself mostly.

Except her meds, I still have to do that. Dirk is going to help out with the cleaning, cooking and laundry.

The surgeon said yesterday, I am getting a nerve block so I won't feel pain right away, but it will wear off at some point tomorrow. I don't start any type of PT for 4 wks. I have to use my right hand/arm to guide my left side like hand to mouth to keep it somewhat mobile..
All I will be doing is the arm swing in circles so it doesn't get stiff. I forgot to ask him when I can drive, but I imagine now at least 4 wks. It's arthoscopic, so I don't think it will be as bad as I thought. The percocet I take now for pain, is the same I will be taking after the surgery for pain.

I couldn't sleep last night, well I didn't take my meds till late, so now I am tired, my mom's PT is here now.

I want to get a lot accomplished today, I hope I get some pep. Which will put me in pain, but hey at this point, it won't matter.

I will be online tomorrow, since I am sure I will be up early, although I should sleep until I have to get ready to go, because I can't have anything to drink or eat. I have to be there at 11am, my surgery is at 12:30pm it takes about an hour and a half. I love my iced coffee in the morning, oh well. Maybe I can get a Dunkin Donuts one on the way home,,,,,there yummy.

So, be ready, I'll send a limo to pick you all up so you can come with me right in the OR too. LOL

Hugs, Nikko

Nikko

I'll be right in the middle of a train the trainer, So I'll just interrupt the meeting
and ask all there to say a extra special prayer for a friend that is heading
into surgery.

They would get into the limo too, so maybe pass by me. And send for me one day when I can come and just visit when you are bored.
