I'm sorry to hear about your flood. I had a flood in my bathroom a couple of weeks ago. Hugs to you and you are worth something.

accidents happen. i hope they will understand that.

we all forget things like that. you aren't a bad person.

my daughter who is a college graduate mind you, was helping me do the dishes one sunday afternoon. we were busy chatting while she was loading the dishwasher. she filled it with soap..turned it on. we went in the living room to keep yapping.

about 20 minutes later we here a sloshing sound. we go to the kitchen and it's FILLED about 2 feet high with bubbles! she had put liquid dishwashing detergent in the dishwasher!

took about 3 hours to get it all cleaned up and no traces of slippery soap on the floor.

keep posting hon. we are here for you. ((( hugs)))

Sorry that that happened.
It would freak me out having to deal with the people at the door.
But then I would also be mad at myself all by myself for causing extra clean up work.
Tomorrow will be better. That is what I tell myself. Sometimes it is true.

Feel better.

Exclamation

((((((Tim)))))),

You are NOT stupid; you're forgetful. There are TONS of forgetfuls out here. That's why G-d invented the TIMER.

I get involved in my 'puter or in watching TV or in reading and forget.

So ... I've learned to provides CLUES for myself. Whenever I turn the stove on, I always put the light over top of the stove on so that I don't forget.

Whenever I do the laundry downstairs, I use the timer so that the property manager doesn't throw my laundry out

If I had a bathtub, I would do the same thing. Set the timer for the length of time it takes to fill. I wish I had a bathtub; I hate showers.

Don't call yourself 'stupid'. You're like a lot of other critters in the world -- you made a puddle (my cat sometimes makes puddles). No big deal. Clean up the puddle. If you caused damage for other people, reimburse them. You've just learned a "hands-on" lesson.

I recently had the lady upstairs washing her balcony to get rid of cat urine. She threw the bleach water over the balcony rail onto my balcony and into my face I had to call the cops on her TWICE for doing this. I'd rather have **YOU** as a neighbor than her -- believe me.

Hugs.

Barb

PS: Did I ever tell you about the time I ran out of dishwasher liquid and used hand dishwashing liquid instead?? I had BUBBLES -- millions and millions of bubbles. I was using a dustpan and a squeegee to get it up until I figured I was overwhelmed. The night security guard got out the wet-dry vac and cleaned my whole kitchen floor for me (at 2AM) -- that guy was a miracle

If you're worthless then this aught to qualify me for your "club"...

I turned on the stovetop to heat up water, about 2 years ago. I went upstairs to check emails. Kids were downstairs.

I came downstairs a bit later to find the whole downstairs filled with smoke!! A horrible smell. I had turned on the burner that the wooden cutting board was on!! It was charred pretty well. I was lucky the whole house hadn't caught ablaze. I had to open windows, turn on fans... it wasn't a pretty picture. I threw out the cutting board. The kicker is that we are living with my mom and her husband (we as in me and my 3 kids) and the took the stinky board out of the trash in the garage and asked "what happened?" How embarassing!! (After I got over the total fear.)

Hey Tim ...
I read in your post about group something about a tub and someone else mentioned it too, so I went looking for it.

I am so sorry you have had to deal with the fear about possible repercussions from the building people...

AND I am telling you it is OKAY to TALK in group. It is OKAY to reveal things about yourself, even if you feel it is not important enough, that you are not important. If it is upsetting you, then it is something to talk to them about.

What, you think they spend any time wondering whether THEIR issues are important enough for YOU to have to sit and listen to? Not likely in most nearly all cases.

You, like I was (until rather recently), are saddled with shame issues. Shame is one of the biggest triggers in folk like us.

Anyway, I wanted to share my take on things like this episode in THOROUGHLY CLEANING THE FLOOR (which is how you should think of it as )

In my 20's, I started to fill the sink to wash some dishes --- and SOMEHOW when I drifted into the living room, I forgot all about it. ..... UNTIL the water snuck in to greet me -- talk about a clean floor!!!

In the same house, same time frame, I had a 5-pound sugar canister on top of the refrigerator. It had, apparently, crept a bit forward... and when I opened the fridge door (it was one of those old fridges with just one big door for the whole thing), the VERY FULL sugar canister came crashing down -- and on its way down, it caught the edge of the egg bin in the door (more than a dozen eggs) --- and I ended up with mounds of white sugar and broken raw eggs all over my kitchen floor. WHAT A MESS that was to clean - uncooked eggs are so slimey.

So if I could be so forgetful back then, when my brain was presumably firing on all cylinders, your one bout of forgetfullness is scarcely awful.

So "Welcome to the Human Race!!" We is all in this together...
- Theresa
