Default Mixed State

I was described as a rapid cycler, is this the same as mixed state?

I was told to go off antidepressants and I did and it has made a big difference, its not the high, low, high, low. Its even keel more so for me.

I seem to rapid cycle through a day???

I was in mania in hospital with catatonic mania and now cycling up and down, up and down. its extremely different to be sober and realize exactly what the crap is going on. Its like I am more aware, I cannot be out for hours on end, I go crazy in the car, driving, I go from okay to raging to get out and back home.

I have been volunteering and its great and running around to meetings but I feel like I need to sleep for two days. Is this crap normal?

Hi,
This what Waves was suggesting and she could be right.

Cycling up and down sounds exhausting.
This stuff should be more treatable.

I am tired most of the time too.
My meds keep me feeling drugged and tired.

Heart

First of all.....
here is a hug

secondly...is any thing ever really normal for us?

I think that we get to decide what is normal...

I was feeling pretty good there for about 3 months...I was actually getting up early to go to the gym and going 5 times a week...felt great.
then december came and all of its activites...I stopped going to the gym and started reving up...and doing too many things for my brain...ended up going manic and put back on geodon for the next month. Which I am thankful for the ability to monitor myself..with help of my friends..hubby still just doesn't get it after all of these years.

anyway.
You and hubby still getting along?
I do hope that you are well.
and am so glad to hear from you.
((((HUGS))))

Default Mixed UP

The mixed states can come and go. I have good days and bad days, and I think that THAT IS JUST THE WAY the cookie is going to crumble for me forever.

I do take a antipsychotic, but in lower dosage, seroquel, so I am not overly drugged, I guess I could go up, but I HATE THAT.

Bizi-I am so much better to be able to see the high and low now. But, what you experience with the "doing all the things" thing with in laws, visits from in laws, trips to see people, its too much interaction I think, I can handle some people for 3 days max, and what they don't realize is after they leave, it takes me two weeks and sometimes longer to recover. And to me that stinks, because I think, why should this bother me why can't I just be like everyone else, but the recovery time from VISITS/Actions things, holidays, people just don't get it not even my husband. When I go manic after in laws visit, he does not get it, sees it kinda as I don't like them, when I sorta do, but its so traumatic sometimes. Even one comment from someone can have me OCD over it for weeks/months after they go!!

I just wish people understood this part of the disorder.

You are so right about this!
I have been thinking that I should really start taking geodon a couple of weeks prior to a vacation.....to help ward off hypomania.
I am going to try this next time.

I wish that my hubby "got it" but he just doesn't...

Bizi, are you dysphoric now?
Last week I raged at my therapist when I would not normally do this...
Waves I have been taking the geodon for some time now this time and it is slowly giving me a more controlled thoughtful approach to life...some days are harder than others and it is taking me a while to return to normal.

How are you doing?
