bizi, have you ever tried melatonin? it's otc.

i tried looking up if melatonin won't work or would have bad side effects with the bp meds. i didn't find much, but i'm not the greatest at searching. maybe mrsd knows.

i did find this. http://www.melatonin.com/melatonin-dosage.php

it's been a life saver for my insomnia. years and years with only a few hours of sleep a night. it still takes me about 30 minutes to fall asleep, but i enjoy that relaxing reading time.

i'll see if i can find other info.

Dear Curious,
thank you for the links.
I have tried melatonin...a couple of years ago...I will try to bring up that thread....
for a couple of years benadryl worked then stopped, then I tried melatonin and other over the counter stuff, sonata, traazadone, roserem which is like melatonin....my brain is now addicted to the gaba receptor stimulators...benzos, hypnotics, etc.
Lunesta worked for a while then it too quit.

All of these meds are hard on your brains...I wonder which one does the least harm?

Like maybe I should ask my pdoc that question or maybe the pharmacist.
I think I will send a PM to mrs D...about this see if she knows.
thanks again.
Right now Insomnia is not the issue because I am drugged up with meds and am in bed for 10 hours sometimes and still groggy.
pdoc oked the decrease in ambien...will see how this pans out.

can melatonin be taken with a lower dose of ambian?

i have taken 1 low dose sleeping in my life. i missed a whole day. didn't even wake up when my work called. the otc stuf gives me medicine head and i'm gorggy all day. not sleeping make me cranky. i won't admit that to my family.

bizi 05-11-2008 11:37 AM

I have slept ok for the 2 nights that I have taken the lower dose of ambien...just takes longer to get to sleep.
Thanks curious, wonder if benadryl would work for me again?
I took it for 2 years before then it stopped.
Wish you slept better consistantly.

Bizi,
This sounds like good news mostly.
The lowered is still giving you your sleep. :)
It sounds like you have to start to bed early and give yourself time to fall asleep.

Do you have the hangover feeling in the morning? Is that what you were dealing with at the higher dose?

I will see how it goes on the lower dose and earlier to bed routine...
yes Mari, I have been having groggy mornings...can't get out of bed....actually I have been saying this for along time....blah blah blah:rolleyes:
I take geodon as well and that is sedating too.
thanks for asking.

I use melatonin and if I take it an hour before bed and then get to bed and not stay up I seem to have a good sleep. Lately I haven't taken it as I am soooo tired if the baby wakes me up..it is hard to hang on to that 25 pound baby when I am so tired! I find the pill form rather than the liquid works much better1:)
