Yes. I have a lot of tofu recipes if you would like some. I also buy a lot of turkey burger. Its healthier then hamburger, and its costs less.

Hi,
Last week I cooked some quinoa in the rice steamer. Then added some cut up tofu and tumeric. I took that to school. It looked so interesting to one of my students that he wanted to taste it and decided it was ok.

I also make tofu sandwiches:
-toasted bread
-mustard
-cold sliced tofu

I'm not much of a cook.

Usually I rely on hubby.
When he makes a dish, he sometimes adds tofu to it. That's it. He cuts it up and adds it to his soup, stew, stiry fry, or whatever he is making.

We buy the "firm" tofu for these.

The softer versions can be used for sauces, to replace cheese sometimes, to make drinks, to make soups. . ..

I just paid $3 for a $15 buck part of a two-piece bathing suit for me! If you wait til the end of the season you can save a lot of money on clothing for next year. Especially at the fall, all the summer stuff is on sale.

Hi, Bizi,

We save money by eating at home and limiting meat consumption.

Frozen fruits and veggies are better than fresh because they are flash frozen close to the site they are picked -- they hold their nutrients. They have a different texture.

I'm fussy about apples, strawberries, and blueberries. I only buy them as a treat when I can buy organic.

In general the following items are available and maybe on sale this time of year where you are:
http://localfoods.about.com/od/searc...ouisianafm.htm

~Beets-- hubby peels them and puts them in the crock pot with some water. They are good roasted too.
~Blackberrries
~Blueberries
~Broccoli
~Cantaloupes
~Carrots

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

Here is my vegetarian day Tuesday
Today I ate
~1/4 cup sliced almonds
~cherries on sale
~two eggs
~organic creamy butternut squash soup in that was probably over priced
~a cucumber
~two slices of millet bread
~4 tablespoons of peanut butter I bought in a huge jar on sale

Bizi

I totally understand the need to save money. I am working to do this too.

I think it could work if I just could figure out the world of couponing to one degree. But I haven't been able to do that.

I'm working on it. I also have been working on figuring out how to eat out less, which is almost impossile when your on the road.

I just have to solve lifes many problems. And look up to them.

I bought an insulated lunch box and packed a lunch today....first time...in a long time....turkey with pepperjack cheese with spicy mustard and wheat bread, yogurt and carrots....
it was lonely eating my lunch in the car by myself.

Dear Bizi,
I can see why you eat out -- if your only choice is to eat in the car or at a restaurant. I wish that you and I could have had lunch together. You have a flair designing for designing meals.

Bizi

Wishing you could find a way to take your lunch somewhere to eat it.

Maybe into somewhere like a store that you get a drink.

Not exactly defeating the purpose of a lunch. Like a pop or tea.

Thank you donna,
The goal is to save money...I don't usually buy pop and they cost 1.50-$2.00
and it is too hot to eat outside. sometimes I could just go home to eat.
I would rather spend the extra $500 for the plate lunches at our health food store and see people that I know. $25 a week extra doesn't seem like that much but that is $100 a month or $1,200 a year so it does add up.I am really not likeing my dry cleaner costs..I could wash them at home and use spray starch to iron them but that is ALOT of effort they are really hard to iron my scrub pants. and I am lazy....
