The pain is so bad I am going out of my mind. I have Fibro. I have a new Dr. , she won't give me pain meds. until she get my records from Ca. She said it could take up yo six weeks. I'll never make it. I have a six year old boy, a thirty year old disabled son and a disabled husband. I have to work at home. What can I do? I have not slept in two days. My whole body hurts. I wish I could be happy and positive today, but I just can't.

She could have easlily called your old doc's office and gotten the information she needed ASAP and had the important stuff faxed. I can understand her waiting but you are in pain. You shouldn't have to. If it gets bad enough, go to the ER.

Rashelle,
You might be able to get a referal from your Dr. to see a Hypnotherapist that works with pain clients. Here is a research article from the American Psychological Association about using hypnosis for pain. http://www.psychologymatters.org/hypnosis_pain.html I hope you get relief, Rick

I would call the Dr.'s office ASAP and tell them you want them to call the other Dr. and have the most important records faxed. The dr. can certainly listen to you re: symptoms, examine you (if he/she insists) and then prescribe appropriate meds. In this day and age of technology 6 wks. is unrealistic. Perhaps you should consider another Dr. if he/she is unwilling to do this.
I can sympathize with you as I am in chronic pain from fibro, RSD and now TMJ - 24/7 at a level 8 to 10. No pain meds have worked for me and I have tried over 40. Good luck - I hope your find relief soon. There are so many meds available I am sure something will work for you. Sydney |

Sorry to hear your having all this trouble and are in so much pain.
But that Dr. is full of something and it's not kindness. Just one phone call to Ca. Dr. and that's what they have fax machine's for. If your in that much paiin and can't find another Dr who cares. You get yourself to the E.R now. I know you have alot on your plate, from reading your posts, but you won't be able to help anyone,or yourself unless you get some pain free rest. Good luck,to you Rashelle ![]() |

Hi rashelle
so sorry you are having to suffer this pain and not getting help from your new doctor the advice you have received is so good re contacting the new doc's office asap and asking them to call the old doc and get the records faxed over IMMEDIATELY better yet, rashelle, you can contact the old doc's office yourself and instruct them to send those records IMMEDIATELY by fax to your new doc it is absolutely reprehensible that this new doctor wont give you something for pain!! ![]() ![]() Hoping you get results today! gentle ![]() Cheri

Chemar stole the words right out of my mouth. If your new doctor is so reuctant to have your pertinent records faxed, you should call your old doc and have them faxed yourself.
I have a strange condition, and because it's so hard to diagnose I've been to 27 doctors and specialists so far. Some are very reluctant to prescrible pain meds without an established record to cover their butts. Others care more about the patient. If the new doc you are seeing is one of the former, I'd try to find another right away. And in the meantime, as so many others have said, if I was in so much pain I would go to the ER. Congress passed a law last year which made pain one of the things that they cannot refuse to treat. I sure hope you get this straightened out soon, and get back to at least some level of "normalcy". Sending you prayers and all my best wishes... Idealist |

This thread is a lesson learned I hope for all of us. ALWAYS, AND I MEAN ALWAYS get copies of your medical records. That way if you have to move,
you have copies of them for your new doctor. It also helps if you just change doctors. Billye |

You guys are so right on. She lectured me for quite some time about covering her butt. I should have got my old recorders. I'll never do this again. Thank you all, this has been very helpful.
