unknown,

Here is the link to view who the forum leaders (moderators and administrators) are.

Unknown,

A lot of readers may not have interest in that particular thread in question. I believe regarding triggers; that should have a forum of it's own for people to view - or perhaps another to discuss conditions to help people who do not have them better understand.

A topic regarding moderators should discuss just that, and then one regarding triggers, health conditions, etc. should be of their own topic - so those viewing the forums will see the thread and then read it being aware of the actual topic.

The topic I believe you are questioning was getting close to the point of becoming 'heated' and upon reviewing the feedback, KD then locked it. It is much easier to lock a topic than allow it to be derailed (for the topic to change). If you would like to discuss triggers, or other health conditions - please feel free to start a new topic.

I would personally love to know more about conditions I do not have, and to be aware of triggers. I am sure I am not alone in having a curious little mind.

Thank you for your post and for asking, you do deserve an answer and I hope you understand.

I explained in my post there that I was "closing" the thread (to discussion for now) until Doc John can come and read and respond. At that point, he may very well reopen the discussion to members.

I didn't "lock" the thread as a disciplinary action, but that Doc John can have a chance to read what's there, respond and take it from there.

I forgot to add, regarding this:

Also, if moderation is going to be low-key here
The moderation will be very open and honest, however, as posted by Doc John - he is sick this week. I am sure once he gets to feeling better he will be posting some rules and more information.

Again, it wasn't a lock out of anything negative - Kimmy was just 'saving' it for Doc John. Kind of like keeping his plate in the microwave so his dinner stays warm until he gets home!

Yes - I couldn't see anything openly hostile in that thread (mostly differences of opinion) - but it's moved through a number of topics (and I was going philosophical, which is not a good thing - need to go back to uni so I can do that where it belongs ). If I was in charge of this board, I'd want to do some reflective work around some of the thread topics - which is what it sounds like may happen.

PS this was posted in reply to Ellie's post - posted at the same time as unknown.

but... not where someone just decides to cut off discussion because it "might" get "heated." There is nothing wrong with "heated" discussions - just nasty ones.
It was not locked for that reason. As stated in my original post, it was locked because Kimmy obtained the feedback and as she stated, she was waiting for Dr. John to respond after he gets a peek at it.

I gave my opinion that it had potential for being heated, which was just from reviewing certain posts and also from my point of view.

There was certainly nothing there hostile or attacking anyone in particular, but it was going off-topic a bit. This was not done in any negative manner at all. We are all trying to limit things until Dr. John is here to provide everyone with a good set of rules - it isn't that we are trying to censor anything or to not respond to certain things, this is the right thing to do. We can't just make up rules or act in certain ways without his 'approval' per se.

As stated, the thread was not locked for going off-topic - but I did say that it was headed that way. You had said you had concern that the triggers should be discussed which is why I said that it would be good to start a new post regarding this. If discussing triggers was not allowed, I would not have said to make a post regarding it.

You may have taken what I said out of context a bit, so I will try to rephrase.

Your opinions are not being moderated, the thread in question was locked only until Dr. John is able to review it. There are no other reasons behind it.

I stated that it was going off-topc, however, and encouraged you (or anyone) to make a new post regarding the topics within that topic that you would like to discuss.

Many users want moderation, many do not want moderation - we over moderate, under moderate - it's all over the place!

The main goal was to get feedback and all feedback is taken into consideration, however, it is easier to await the rules to go into place before taking any permanent actions or responding to any serious questions regarding moderation rules, member rules, etc.

Please try not to judge or to think there are any 'shady' moderation tactics going on, I can assure you it isn't going that way. I did not lock the thread, I just gave my feedback on what I was reviewing. Kimmy locked it and posted the reason why - please try to understand that everyone is working to do their best and this is still the learning phase for a lot of people.

PS: To clarify, I pointed out it was going off-topic because the topics that were being covered DO need to be discussed, and I believe they should have their 'own' topic. It wasn't meant to be negative in any way.

Basically, to see what members thought of moderators and to gather up information they posted about how they would like to see things go and be ran on the forums.

Hopefully, we can have something a bit more formal laid out soon.

Forgive me for babbling, my brain and I just aren't on the same level today so I am all over the place.

I also sent you a Private Message.

I was just curious as to how, from the list of volunteers...some of them were picked. I recognize a couple of names that may cause potential , well...upheavel from various other forums round the net~
