I liked the original one when it was first mentioned, neurotalk, I believe it was. While I know the word 'talk' is linked to another website, 'talk' is what we're here to do. I'd have said neurosupport, but it's taken. Neurologysupport is kind of long, but not too bad. I always liked My____.com's. Like my.epilepsy.com, etc.

Looks like mybrain is taken (that was kind of funny typing that).

Anyway, just babbling. I'm happy with whatever!

I like neurotalk, or neurotalkcentral It's short and snappy, easy to remember, and it highlights what we do very well and a lot of, "talk"!
The neuro ties in with many of the conditions we're talking about, though not all, of course. I think a name that tried to include everything, like healthtalk, would just be too general. And the fact that BT1 also includes talk doesn't bother me in the least. Most of us refered to it, and thought of it, as far as that goes, as BT rather than as braintalk.

Arrow Different colors/skins available with vBulletin softare

http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=15 - Check out various available colored and styled skins. Scroll down to the bottom and you will see a white box on the left with "Smooth Blue" visible. I love the navigational tabs at the top of the Smooth Blue which is the default on this forum. Very modern and updated, stylish.

Click on the 'arrow down' and you will also find Dark Blue, Stylish Green, Plain Green, Purple, and finally v3B Grey Style (this one we currently have). On at least some forums, you can "set" your color on your User preferences so it is always want you want.

And here is another set of colors and two styles - Fixed and Liquid. Available in White, Gray, Classic and Retro color plans. http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/?styleid=11

Here's my faves in no particular order

BrainTrust
BrainWaves
CNSCafe - shortened this
NeuroFamily
NeuroTalk

I'm thinking in addition to the name we need a descriptive statement something along these lines:

An on-line support "family" for neurological and related health conditions. Like all families, there's a lot of talking done here; we also offer experience, friendly shoulders, research articles and just plain fun!

If the statement includes "related health conditions", we can add as many forums as there is a need for, as they are requested, since as you say Rick there are so many conditions that can be said to have a neurologic component.

P.S. I know I pointed out we might want to stay away from anything that sounded similar to OBT, but....I really like these 2 names, LOL! And I think they're good ones, I have a lot of TRUST in this site, and I don't think it's all bad if we make a few WAVES with it, either.

Well, as the poll will be up soon, I have whittled my personal choices down to two

NeuroHealth Central

NeuroFamily Support

I like the first best because it maintains our primary focus on the neuro aspect while bringing in the health keyword, and the second because of the warmth that reflects this community

I do like NeuroTalk, but if we are trying to truly distinguish ourselves from BT then maybe the talk should not be in our name

All great suggestions!

Thumbs up My votes...

Hi Everyone...

I thought that I would offer up the ones that I like best too, before time runs out and the poll is made.

I did vote for "neurotalk" in the last poll, as it was the name that liked best at that time, from the choices offered.

But...I also like these:

Brainwaves
Brainmatters
NeuroTransmitters
Nerve (or Neuro) Center (or Central)
The Nervous System (or drop "the". Whichever)

I also liked Artist's very short and simple and completely blunt and to the point suggestion of "The Nerve". LOL

All of these aren't so close to the "Braintalk" name. I agree that it might be a good idea to get as far away from that name as possible. I don't like being called "Copycat"!

One thing that I think has to be taken into consideration is not only finding a name that "covers" what we are, and what we do here, but also one that will easily come up on Search Engines when folks are using them to find info/support/help. Another thing, which has been brought up, is that it needs to be a catchy name; one that kinda sticks in the brain easily. If that made sense? Too long, or too many words all strung together, and folks will have troubles remembering. I know that I would, as I have a very leaky and rusty brain at times, especially when my pain levels are high (or higher than normal).

I do like the more "punny" names, as I think that they also show we DO have a sense of humor around here. They also tend to be kinda catchy. LOL, I guess that is why I picked all of the names I listed here, as they are all "punny".

Anyway...that is my 2 cents on the matter. I would like to thank Doc John again for giving us this place, and for letting us make so many decisions about it. This is a SUPER new "home" we have here!

Take Care,
Jose
PS..I also like the color scheme that Shotspine sugested with the purples and yellows. I didn't think I would "purple and yellow" ? They are color opposites, and not a combo that you would think of right off hand. But, I found that color scheme on that site very attractive.
I think that was more like 4 cents worth, rather than 2. LOL, sorry.
