Default DocJohn: Any chance for email notification of private messages, etc.?

There were a couple of technical features on BrainTalk I miss. (And that's about all I miss: except of course the data that was lost in it's crash.)

First, there was a feature where we could get email notification whenever we had private meassages. I've just looked through the 10 pages of thread listings on this forum and don't see anything that adressed this. Would it be possible to incorporate it? The only reason I ask is that I've gotten a couple of delayed responses from people who apparently log in only when they want to post, and don't know most of the time that they have mail waiting. (Come to think of it, this may be a deliberatre choice on your part in order to encourage folks to log in, I don't know.)

Secondly, BT has, across the top of each forum page, links to online dictionaries, PubMed and a couple of other resources. It's my understanding that this sort of web-linking is generally free and done all the time. It would be convenient to have it here.

I offer these for your consideration only. Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated.

Mike, I think if you go to your user control panel, click on options, you'll find under messaging and notification the option to elect email notification of new private messages. You can also elect a pop-up for new private messages. I've got both checked on mine, and always get emails when I get a pm. Plus I get the pop up box when I've got a new pm when I'm on the site.
Hope this is what you wanted!

Lois is correct Mike

we have both the email and pop-up notification options here for PMs

all you have to do is activate them in your User CP options

Thanks. I had looked at the FAQS but didn't stumble over those instructions. I'll give it a try.

Although, Mike, looking back at your post, your question really seemed to be about getting an email notification to someone else about your pm to them. Unfortunately, if THEY don't have their user cp set to received emails, you'll still have to wait until they happen to log in and check!
Now, let me inject a problem of my own into this thread. I can't seem to get Community and Forum Feedback to come up. I can jump to an individual thread in it, from an email notification, for example, as I did to this one. Or from the "Last Post" listing next to Community & Forum on the General page. But it I click on C & F itself, it tells me page not found. I've clicked on several other forums from the General page without any problem. Just the C & F page won't come up.

Must have been a temporary glitch, it's working fine now. Also, I think I've restarted the puter since then, so it was probably something with Internet Explorer, which has since reset itself.
Thanks!!
