He's smart enough to know how to fix this stuff...from the comforts of his own couch. My dh does this stuff for a living, and let me tell ya...his backside doesnt leave my couch too often...most of his stuff is fixed remotley. SELDOM...does he need to travel to fix a server.

sounds like to me...something much more fun came up along the pipeline...

Its really time to move on however...if ya want to have a peaceful resolution and start anew. Forgive, but dont forget so they say. Personally~ I dont give two rat's tails what he's done. I dont think it was "him" who caused alot of the much round here...it was his "support staff".

All this talk of money and where it went and how upsetting that is.....I am more upset about the abondonment of the Human Beings who used this site to help them live in the world.........

The loss of BT as it was.....is to me, about a far bigger loss than $'s.....

I, never donated any monies to Braintalk because there is no squeezing anything extra from my budget.....I live from week to week....sometimes from day to day......

PEOPLE were abandoned.....not just their dollars......if there was any fraud committed.....the Human factor was a much bigger loss than the loss of money........

That of course is just my opinion.......though in a court of law.....it seems cases are more often built around money issues, than about damage to Human Life.......

I googled second life.......they get more people at that site than ever appeared on braintalk...by far......

It all just makes me so sad.........

Blessings to us all.....

yes, and the lack of consideration for those people is appalling.

Why do you think DocJohn is mysterious? He's really been an open book here about his motives to help a bunch of stranded BT users. His picture and his bio are easily available. He even found it amusing when posters photochopped his picture in various hilarious states. :D

He's here a lot to participate. If you're concerned about something, just check out his info he's posted so far or ask him a question... he's been VERY straightforward, honest and forthright in all the discussions, questions, and yes, even the suspicions that have been posted about him. :)

... lol, right?

Deny it if you must, but we no longer matter to JL. How long would it take to update the status screen even if it said it wasn't coming back? There wasn't even the pitiful screen we did get until I contacted JL's associate and told him I was writing an article for Wired magazine on the tragedy of BT and how it had left thousands of vulnerable people stranded. I was assured that the situation was temporary and that JL would make it right. The status screen went up the next day and since then zilch. I may really write that story. This is no small matter.

If JL is going to pull the equivalent of abandoning his family to run away with a painted floozy, so be it. It's time to accept the fact that, whatever he may have been at one time, he ended the relationship in a most dishonorable manner. And he STILL doesn't give a rat's butt about us. One message would have set things to rights. He couldn't make time even for that.

But there is still one thing he could do to make things tolerable. Turn over the archive, John. Give us our history. If it is trashed, we will fix it. Give it to us and let's simply agree to part. If not, don't expect the issue to go away. There is too much pain and suffering in that archive to just turn our backs on it.

There's a guy who wrote a popular book called, "He's Just Not that Into You"

I think it applies here. No excuses on our part ... no painted scenarios of why JL couldn't get in contact...

the fact is that he just wasn't that into the BT members...

Initially maybe nobody was minding the store. 2+ months later? not a chance.

I have no emotional attachment to braintalk, other than I hate to see ppl victimized. That ticks me off, and I will not hesitate to point out the obvious. To me anyway YMMV ;)

is that like pointing out the fact that a profile ( not a bt1or2..just to clarify) states the number of hours logged in? i can see why there was no time to fix bt1.

btw...good morning dorry!! :D

That kind of weirded me out....because until that point, I don't know why, but I thought I was just writing words that would eventually vanish into the Cosmos...........it made me feel somewhat uncomfortable to realize that someone was saving the emotional trauma I came to this place to get help for.......

I have written on a chalkboard in my home where I can see it readily.....

Things Change

That statement is certainly becoming true for this place....it makes me really sad.....I am one of those people who used that site for the replacement of family and interaction with Human Beings....for help in thinking.....I literally used it to live my Life......

I still can't wrap my heart around the sense of betrayal I felt when I was banned for wishing someone a happy birthday and good luck in her surgery.....I didn't even know the person I was talking about had been banned......I got a e-mail from David H saying that there had been a mistake and that he had reinstated me, but no one had sent me an e-mail telling me that, until days later, when I wrote him, crying my eyes out so to speak.........it never felt the same to me since......

When someone....who ever it is, makes a place like this.....calling out for wounded people in what ever capacity, offering them a place......They have a RESPONSIBILITY to do no harm...That can not be said for John Lester any longer....because for what ever reason........his actions.....or lack of them.......Has caused harm.....to me, and many, many, others........

Maybe that is where I am foolish.....that place became real to me....what an adjustment I had to make when I realized that it could all be taken away in an instant, if I spoke the wrong words.....That is horror...manifested......especially for someone with a brain injury......

I have posted on Doc John's site....but it isn't the same.....no one knows me there......there are caring folk.....but I miss the home I felt for a place and it's inhabitants.........

Blessings on us all..............

Thank you for writing that.

Thank you very much.

I experienced the banning, too, and I know others who experienced it. Anyone who looked objectively at the banning would have been able to predict this eventual outcome... because the banning done as it was done showed a total lack of responsibility.

I for one think that BT1 being gone is a blessing. :)

This clarifes the speculation as to where the $$ went. I don't recall that
on OBT itself this information was shared in the mission statement.

I have been reading this forum daily to catch up, since I was out of town so long with no computer service (8weeks). So I don't recall which thread discussed the cost of running the forums. It is now clearer to me, where the money donated at the last down, actually went.

Ah yes, the subterfuge of it all.

So here we are. BrainTalk Communities Inc. is funding this project as part of it's core mission to explore online communities that help neurology patients and caregivers, and we have purchased a private island in Second Life

Seriously? or are you joking?
