It is much clearer from the Brigadoon perspective. That is all I am saying.
I don't begrudge Brigadoon its existence, only HOW this was communicated.

People went to BT for its mission statement, to help or receive help of some kind. The actual running/business side was less public by far and remains so.

And so many of the people who innocently went there, in need, were hurt by it in serious and severe ways.

The loss of BT as it was.....is to me, about a far bigger loss than $'s.....

I, never donated any monies to Braintalk because there is no squeezing anything extra from my budget.....I live from week to week....sometimes from day to day......

PEOPLE were abandoned.....not just their dollars......if there was any fraud committed.....the Human factor was a much bigger loss than the loss of money........

That of course is just my opinion.......though in a court of law.....it seems cases are more often built around money issues, than about damage to Human Life.......

I googled second life.......they get more people at that site than ever appeared on braintalk...by far......

It all just makes me so sad.........

Blessings to us all.....

It makes me sad, too.

The thing is, think about how the people who donated money had the power to kick people like you and me who did not have money to donate out.

That's pretty sick.

I don't know how much it costs to run the pbs forum, but they don't put up such lofty ideals, and they don't hurt people the way BT did.

Just because Brigadoon is funded by BrainTalk Communities Inc doesn't mean that the money donated for the last server crash went to Brigadoon.

BrainTalk Communities Inc gets donations from other folks that don't visit the BrainTalk forums at all. Also I'm guessing there is some donations made to Brigadoon from the folks in Second Life.

You're right, ZombieS. :). I've set up donation areas in SL (during educational fairs and expos coordinated by other SL members) and transferred the $L raised to JL. (And, $L from items I've made and sold in SL have also been donated.) There are, more likely than not, also SL members who have made direct donations to BT.

I don't believe it has to be clearly posted at BrainTalk since all donations goto BrainTalk Communities Inc and not BrainTalk forums. I do know there is a private forum at BrainTalk for Brigadoon members. Perhaps donations were sent from those folks specifically for buying the island in Second Life?

Mr. Lester might have over looked mentioning the fact in his donation requests on the forums that money might be used in Brigadoon. We don't know...most likely won't ever know.

I knew about Brigadoon being connected to BT Communities, and others did too. People stay in their forums and don't generally wander around. If you had, or you had multiple interests, you would have known that when Brigadoon started. Lots of people kenw it. But, what's the point of even saying it here?

Many have their minds made up and it doesn't matter what anyone says anymore, so many aren't saying anything and won't say anything. This will be the difference in moderating. I can see the beginning of the end here in that if you don't agree with the "popular" thoughts or ideas, you will be run off. Maybe politely, but it will still be the same.

Ready, set, go.....................

John mentioned his interest in LL long before he bought the island and long before the site became Braintalk Communities Inc.

It was him that told all there about it and invited them to come see what it was.

My question is why are all the negative thoughts being generated here and by me as well being tolerated by the management. A person who only wanted to help John.

Yeah I guess I may as well get in the line up too

ready, set. go..................................whoa can you swim...............waters getting deep

good grief....

nobody is being run off from here.

we have had political discussions that everyone didn't agree on. so what? so i know where someone stands on liking or not liking bush? no one was run off.

who really cares that some believe certain things about bt1 and others don't? does it matter? will you not offer support or help if that person has a need just because you didn't like the fact that they got upset about the crash? or think the money was used for something else?

there are enough sites set up specificaly to bash bt1. this wasn't set up to do that. yep, we have ALL been allowed very graciusly by docjohn to vent and get our feeling out. take a look at the good that is here. the support, the re-connection of friendships.

i really truely hope you don't feel like you are being run off username.

I don't really see that mentality here.

I feel that I've tested the boundaries a bit.

It's clear that I'm not the only one who was hurt. So there's no point in trying to deny that people were hurt.

Not hurting people is really important.

That CareCure forum is totally amazing. (out of Rutgers) You should see the stuff they allow. I think that's a lot more healthy than strong arm mods clearing out anyone who offends a friend of theirs.

WAIT, where are the sites set up specifically to bash BT. Maybe I should go to them to let off the remaining steam... :)
