Hi Jo,
I got on the lap top and downloaded some restoring, the AVG 9.0 that should have been updated the day before, I could not get it started in Safe mode, but could in regular mode which wanted me to sign on the Internet and buy the software program they were liking. I could drag all my pictures and word doc to the external drive in case I had to do a master restore. After I backed it all up, I went back two days for a restart. I did not get any of the pop ops or take over of the computer any more. So I got all the things back ran the software, isolated 4 potential threats, and am running a master clean up now on the whole system, and the external drive. I think this resolved it not to need to reformat the entire system... What a pain, if only the son would have updated or mentioned to me. Oh, I hate the new I-explorer 8.0 too. I think I will just go with fire fox. thanks for the links, I am burning everything to CD any more and saving it. No good if it is saved on the burnt system. di
