Default How can my friend get back on FB?

Okay, here is what happened. She has absolutely no computer experience. She is NOT tech savvy. The person who set up her laptop 2 years ago created an account, put her on facebook, (she does not know her FB password). So she goes on FB (she does not do email but obviously she has a gmail account because there is an icon on her screen but it needs a password and she NEVER goes there). We found this out earlier today. Oh, her FB account is linked to her gmail account.

Somehow, she was logged out of FB. When she tried to go back on it prompted her for her password and of course she doesn't know it. Her husband who is a bit more tech savvy, tried to do the FB password recovery thing but he can't get into the email account (gmail),that is associated with her FB account so they can send her a new PW because... she doesn't know her own email password. But....she does have an AOL Email account. We know because I just sent her a test email. She got it.

So....her husband is trying to get the AOL email account hooked up to her FB account so they can mail him a new PW so she can FINALLY get back on FB. He followed some prompts and it seems that FB will choose 3 FB buddies and email them a code or something to that effect. They tried to follow instructions but nothing is working. They are getting error messages.

She is thinking of bringing the laptop into some tech place or Best Buy so MAYBE some tech guy can retrieve SOMETHING or get her back on FB?

Any comments would be helpful

Thanks much, Melody

Did they try the gmail password reset option? To get that working.

Or make a whole new gmail account and make a new FB account..and write down the passwords...
(make the new FB account with a different but nearly the same name)

I'll be honest. If she even new what her email address was, maybe her husband could help her to do this. She is not computer literate. She just opens her laptop, clicks on the FB icon and she's on facebook. She has never had to log in because she is always logged in. Somehow she got logged out and now she can't get back in. I tried finding a phone number on FB for her to call but that's not happening. Good Grief.

Anyway, she does not know how to set up another FB account. She's going nuts. I know, it sounds superficial but all she had was FB.

Oh well. Thanks anyway very much.

Well, guess what? She remembered the PW. She is now in the clouds and is in heaven.

Thanks much

You may want to tell your "non-tech savy" friend that I have always keep a small calender book, or something else small, just for the computer and write ALL computer passwords there, and to make a habit of it. That way she won't have to rely on her memory (if it's anything like mine, it isn't that good)

It sounds like a simple tip, but is sure has saved my butt on a numerous occasion.
Hope this helps,

Hi, I never get any notifications that people have replied to any of my postings. I wonder why this is? Anyway. thanks much. Since FB is the ONLY thing that she needs a PW for, she now knows what it is. lol
