Default Why are my postings not formatting right?

I was not sure how to say it, but when I type in ANY forum, my sentences are varying lengths. Some go half way across the page and others go the full distance.

I was told if I just typed and did not hit the enter key, the formatting would look ok. That is no guarantee either.

Just watch. When I post this, it will be perfect just to frustrate me.

An example would look like this: My first sentence might go all the way across the page, while the next line
would be half way. I have had this problem on a half dozen computers over the last --- uh --- five years?? Dell, Compaq, Toshiba, etc. all do it. So it HAS to be my fault. I am setting it up wrong or something.

I have asked this question on other forums with zero help, I like for my posts to look half way decent, so I usually go back and
hit the delete key to bring the sentences into alignment. That takes awhile.

ANY SUGGESTIONS would be GREATLY appreciated........thanks

I guess I must not have said it very well, but I have used Netscape and Mazilla and IE with similar results.

Other people do not seem to have this error in their posts --- frustrating.

Thanks for reading the post, if anyone has an idea, please let me know, Dave

You stated your question well, Dave, so that's not a prob. .

I'm wondering, within your CP or user Control Panel and Edit Options, what do you have selected under the Miscellaneous Options and Message Editor Interface? It's the last set of options in your CP.

Mine is set to Standard Editor.

You might try changing yours to a diff. one and see what happens.

I can't remember which option it is, but when I used a different (other forums), I also had posts which broke sentences where I hadn't intended for breaks to appear.

after you try the User CP settings & changes - maybe also clear the cache of your browser
-{which ever one you are using at the time}
I'm not sure if the cache has anything to do with it -
but maybe we can help figure it out eventually.

Let us know if that helps or not.

Bobbi, JO55,

I stumbled on to the place you wanted me to go, it is INSIDE Neurotalk. I think. I changed my edit to simple text or something like that to see if that helps. The only other setting was -- can't remember what it was, but I think it was more complex. No, it was wysiwyg type.
Not being familiar with it, I did not use it. I will see how the "text" version goes.

If I misunderstood what you were saying, please tell me. I made the change within this forum, but I don't think that will help me with other forums, unless they have similar user CP. Hmmm.

Thanks again, Dave

wysiwyg is a format that What You See Is What You Get.

you might want to try it. if you don't like it, change back. for me i prefer it. i know what my post is going to look like. warts and all.

OK, I will switch it over to WYSIWYG. I am familiar with what it means, but wasn't sure what else went with it.

It seems anything but the regular setting is ok. Thank you again.

Dave, in your post (this thread) when you responded to Curious re: WYSIWYG, it appears that the text doesn't have unwanted breaks in the sentences.

Possibly, it's fixed. I'd try a lengthier post here and see what happens to it. (Just type whatever. Even if it makes no sense, it will help determine whether WYSIWYG is the fix needed.)

Lightbulb I have found that

if you write your post in another place, like Word, or wordpad, and copy it to
the reply box on a forum, then the "broken" sentences are more likely.
