Yes, Bobbi the Linux OS {Distributions/distro's} are free.
Here's a page listing the mainstream distro's-

I think Arthur was just offering a general suggestion of Linux OS as an option for anyone interested.

But with your needs & previously purchased software it wouldn't work in your situation.
