You might want to run a Search on your 'puter and look up "Repair"; sometimes, there are viable solutions presented within the info. stored within VISTA.

Another thing, you might want to try a rollback or restore. On VISTA, a restore to an earlier checkpoint has to be done in SafeMode. (Discovered that after ample headaches.)

Doing a restoration might correct the prob.
