if your friend in the US gets the error message.
he/she can try this. But remember, it can only be changed FIVE times(used to be 3 times) and then it'll be permanant in the last setting: Right-click "My Computer" and select "Properties". On the "Hardware" tab, click "Device Manager". You'll see a list of devices—double-click DVD/CD-ROM drives the right-click the DVD drive that you want to change region settings for then choose Properties. On the "DVD Region" tab change it to the region you need. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've purchased a software called DVD region free for a one time fee of $40.00 because we watch movies from other countries and we have friends that send us their home videos from other countries. Not sure if anyone wants to make that investment. But we like it. For us, it's worth it. this saves you from having to change the setting and only can do it five times. http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm (in case anyone is interested)
