hey bfd,
for myself, I create a folder of my own on my desktop. I usually call it, "to be modified" and then inside it I create subfolders to catalogue them. Works well for me. If you don't like it on your desktop. Try to create a folder in your documents. Just give it a name. Photochop usually follow the generic path and just saves it in your documents, you can just create a new one during save.
