Allen, how do you close a pop up like that if you can't X it out?

Son just had this on his PC and he had to reformat his PC. He would just X out the popup so in the future I want to try to stop this before it gets in.

If you push Crtl/Alt/Delete that will open up the windows Task Manager.

If you see it in the list on the processes page you can try to close it that way. But don't stop the wrong thing. If your not sure might be better to use the options below.

shut down/restart the computer-
you can use the start/shut down button if it is working for you, or just use the power button or reset button if nothing else is working.

Do not go back to where the pop up arrived from.

After the restart I'd run both AV & anti spyware checkers just to be sure nothing got on it.

I know that I never clicked on any pop up (they're actually blocked on my end) and yet my entire system crashed in the blink of an eye... no warning. And, as it happened to me is not uncommon.

The number one culprit? Car dealership sites. Not what I was visiting, but still it would seem pretty tame to visit such a site.

It seems that these days, more needs to be done server-side to protect surfers, if sites want return visitors and referals. After this, I'm sure that my surfer will be limited even more so.

The last time I had a machine go completely down was the late '90s.

it reinstalls itself with as the ".dll" file that is why it keeps on coming back.

That guy probably had to go in by following the path to delete it from the main file and then run superantispy again. I like that program, have it as one of our arsenals.

more than likely, this thing came from one of those "unsafe" sites that probably use unsafe streaming or bit torrents or stuff like that...

anyways, hope you got rid of it for good....

Now here's another of my QUESTIONS, regarding when I get the laptop.

I now have a desktop with Internet Security Suite anti-virus and the Anti -Spyware thingee.

When I hook up the router (which I have been told has it's own firewall), and everything is all hooked up, do I have to install a different anti-virus software on the laptop?

Of course I do, (what a stupid question I just wrote).

What I mean is, because I get Verizon Internet Security Suite from Verizon (on my desktop), can I then also download it to the new laptop? Or do I have to get a different anti-virus thingee??

I don't plan on going anywhere with the laptop, just maybe on the porch in front of my house, but mainly inside my house.

If I think of any more questions (and believe me, I will), I be sure and ask. lol

I think you can use /download the same Verizon Internet Security Suite since it's most likely part of the DSL /modem/subscription.
It probably says for sure on their website, it's been awhile since I have explored Verizon Central.

I am not familiar with Verizon.

is that security suite a part of the bundled software included in their start up disc?

And I am not sure if they'll charge you for multi-licensing or not. I would call them and ask.

If the case is that you don't want to use their internet security suite, you can download all the free stuff that has been mentioned in the different threads here and arm yourself up pretty good..
