I am trying to learn how to set up two accounts. One for him, and one as me as administrator. I have no idea how to do this. and if anyone out there can tell me step by step how to set this up, I'd appreciate it very much. (because it's going to be awhile till we can afford a laptop), well, just to make you laugh, I just typed up a document calling it RULES FOR ALAN.

Here's what it says: It's now on the wall right above the computer. And I printed it out in BIG BOLD LETTERS .
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

RULES FOR ALAN

NEVER DOWNLOAD ANYTHING FROM ZANGO. IT PUTS SPYWARE ON THE COMPUTER.

NEVER CLICK ON ANY POPUPS FROM ANYONE.

IF YOU SEE AN UPDATE MESSAGE, DO NOT CLICK ON IT. NEVER!!!

DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS ON THIS COMPUTER.

If you want to download something, please ask first. If I am asleep, and you download something and it infects the computer,

YOU WILL BE TERMINATED!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Good Lord. I'm almost 61 and I am now writing threatening letters to my husband.

lol

That is an excellent idea. I shall run this by him when he gets up.

and that's not the only headache I have with this computer. it works fine by the way but last week I had to replace the keyboard. It was not working correctly. It was one of those BIG Microsoft natural keyboards that is broken up in the middle. I LOVED IT.

So we went to Staples. They didn't have any of those.
They had wireless keyboards for over $75.00. All I wanted was my big oversized keyboard. no luck

so I got a Logitech. It's a regular black keyboard with all the keys.

Except it's so small and because I'm used to THE OTHER BIG ONE, I am hitting all the wrong keys when I type. I really can't stand this one. I'm looking on ebay now and sure enough I can buy one of those microsoft natural things.

but actually, I want a BIG KEYBOARD WITH BIG LETTERS. Alan has poor vision and I want BIG LETTERS.

i found a big one sold by some Low vision company.

Do any of you use any oversize big keyboards and can you recommend one for me? I would love to just sit down and SEE WHAT I'M TYPING.

This one is too small for my hands.

Thanks much.

Lightbulb Mel...

Ebay has a ton of Microsoft keyboards..

Use Microsoft Keyboard for a search there.

Most are 9.99 some less

about the keyboard - did you check Amazon or other online sites to find the one like you had before?

Keyboard - amazon.com - Is #6 (in the link below) like the one you had?

LOL sounds like my son...get a mac
he used to drive us nuts saying "use Linux!"

Actually Mel's problem is mostly from her hubby LOL
he fiddles with the settings and leaves it for her to fix.

Mel, I just thought of this
make him use the Guest account- it's very limited

Actually, because Alan has bifocals and I see him looking up, down, sideways on this stupid Logitech black SMALL keyboard with SMALL keys (yuck), what I actually want to buy is a BIG KEYBOARD or a regular size keyboard with BIG KEYS ...oversized keys.

I went to a lowvision website and they do have such things. Next time I go into NYC, I will visit the store at the Lighthouse. They sell all things for visually impaired people. I was there once. They have AMAZING stuff for people with low vision. They MUST HAVE some kind of keyboards there. Oh, I just thought of something. They must have a website.

be back later.

Hi everybody:

Went to the Lighthouse online store. I don't have to replace my new Logitech keyboard. They have these stick on thingees that you put on your existing keyboard. The labels are yellow with black lettering.

Take a look!!

http://www.shoplowvision.com/item_de...?ItemCode=0509

What do you all think? I think if I peel these labels and stick them over my keys, it's easier for the both of us. I can adapt to this keyboard but the keyboafrd is black with small white lettering. I know how to type so I KNOW where the keys are, but Alan has to hunt and peck and this thing is so small.

Do any of you think it's a good thing to get these labels? Or should I spring for a low-vision keyboard"? They start at about $33.00 or so. That's not bad either.

Oh, I just found a big letter keyboard and it's cheap. Look at this.
