the icons might have just gotten removed?

You can use the windows search on your computer to look for it - just type Internet Explorer into the search area

or go to settings/control panel/ add/remove programs
and then on the side tab
click add/remove windows components

then find the Internet Explorer and make sure that box is checked
then click next and follow the prompts.

Maybe that is why the download is asking for an application to run it -your original IE is disabled or missing..
generally they just go without asking ...

I did a search and I FOUND IT. It was a folder. I found where it said "install". I clicked on "install", and I got a popup that said:

WARNING, YOU ARE ABOUT TO CHANGE YOUR INTERNET SETTINGS.

So what do I do now??

I just want to have an icon on the desktop so Alan can use this when he wants to.

Why would installing this change my internet settings?

And thanks so much for your help.

Melody
