Default Dental implant removal

Hi

In October I had my lower front tooth removed due to a root canal that could be saved. The tooth had root resorption and that was why a root canal was preformed. I had the tooth pulled and a bone graft done October 2013 with
no problem. February 2013 I had the titanium post implanted. Within days I was in horrible pain, slight fever and swelling. I was also in antibiotics. After many visits to my the dentist and to an oral surgeon for a second opinion I was told the implant was fine. Finally after 10 days I had my dentist remove the implant and do another bone graft. The dentist did tell me upon opening up the gum that there was not enough bone in one of the walls that did not show in the xray. I no longer have pain but still have a lot of swelling and redness in the gum. The bone graft is still open a little but the dentist said this will close on its own. My question is it still normal to have all this swelling 2 weeks after the implant removal.
