Kk,

You think you have gum disease? What are your symptoms of that?

Periodontal disease is a progressive bacterial infection and it is UN-likely to be limited to just one area of the mouth. This infection can delay or prevent healing of any oral surgery.

The white area can be blanched tissue, it could be dead tissue.... it needs to be seen clinically and evaluated. Does the wound seem smaller because it is swelling closed? Does the pain wake you up during the night? When does it seem to hurt the worst?

I am still taking ibuprofen but the pain seems to be not as intense but is still there. I don't smoke but I do have gum disease I am pretty sure and I havent been to the dentist for the past year.
