I imagine the answer is no, but thought I would ask.
After the oral surgery my gums REALLY, REALLY itch. Shades of 1948-49. I can floss the top, but not the bottom. Hmmmm, ok, so I don't rub the Lidocaine directly on the gums, what about outside the gum area? Plan B is oxycodone. ![]() Thanks........Dave

Hi Dave,
Before you put anything on or near your new grafted tissue, call the dentist first to see what he says. If anything disturbs the healing process, the grafts will not take. As for the itching........... hmmmmmm.... sometimes the accumulation of plaque can cause an intching sensation. Are you rinsing real well? Perhaps you have built up a sensitivity to the mouthrinse that was prescribed?? I would call the dentist and explain the situation before using any OTC stuff on the graft areas. Bryanna Quote:

I spoke to his office twice, but forgot to ask about the lidocaine.
It is NOT OTC. Prescription for when I had such severe bladder problems. After one procedure they told me I would be on a catheter the rest of my life. I have a new Urologist and his PA did more for me in one month than the other doctor did in 7 years. Anyway, I was partially kidding. I also have the lidocaine pain patches I thought about putting on the outside of my jaw. I just hate to use the oxy. Thanks again Bryanna, you are an angel. EDIT: Dog got "skunk sprayed" at 10:15pm. I had to wash her in the shower. She is my service dog, so I wash her. My wife's knees won't let her bend over. She has a blow dryer for dog groomers that blows the water off the dogs. Low heat. It could double as a leaf blower. ![]()

Surgeon said no lidocaine IN my mouth. Outside? If I want to try it.
