Heart Depression and Anxiety Awareness

A Warm Hello to All,

I had read this today. The link was sent to me by a brain research foundation.

So glad people will share and help to end any stigma, will raise awareness!

"Depression Awareness On the Red Carpet"

http://www.cnn.com/2015/07/29/health...eat/index.html

I was uplifted when I'd read this article.
Wanted to share it here with the NT family.

Warmly,
DejaVu

Thanks for sharing DejaVu .

Anything which can help in battling the stigma about mental illness is good stuff.

to have lived an era 5 decades plus
when the famous 42nd street in NYC was at it's worse
and people now come from all over the world
and go to Time Square
the vets coming home and shunned
PTSD at its best
Jimmy Carter President
to the surprise of the citizens
feminism alive
so much during my time
as we all experience
the stars of that time
Steve McQueen
Yul Brynner
"now that i'm gone
i can say stop smoking"
stars have been making an impact
on society "CANCER"
"THE BIG C"

then...
Elizabeth Taylor and AIDS
who was at Rock Hudson bed side

i absolutely concur

stars can do so much good

just by bringing awareness to whatever
ailment may have stricken them
a loved one
or plain old support

so much more NEEDS to be done
depression under a umbrella
a BROAD
term
so so many factors to take
into consideration
so many different kinds of depression
may it be hormonal
serotonin imbalance
situations in ones life
death
soooooooooooooo many factors
"the brain"
i don't know what or when
it all started
guess what
it was always there
lurking
and it's kicking my butt
kicking my butt
never have i ever felt this way
what do i mean
"that doomed feeling"
"what for when no one else cares"
"don't want to feel "IT" anymore"
"no one is listening"
"no one is paying attention"
"i am blamed for getting sick"
"i worked all my life and it's all gone"

this is why i share mys experience strength and hope
and am open to a fault
i look at it this way
i'd rather be safe than sorry
may we one day have it figured out
love
me

Thanks DejaVu for sharing this link.
In my country (NZ) the topic of Depression (in very generalised terms) has made it onto prime time TV in the form of 30sec ads 'raising awareness' by local celebrities who suffer. (EnglishDave may recognize the name John Kirwan) However there's still much work to be done at the 'ordinary people' level - especially when we have a govt. that is consistently underfunding the public health service.

Thanks Eva for such a poetic description and especially for emphasizing that depression comes in many forms and disguises. I wish I had your lyrical way with words but my foggy brain often struggles to get the basics out.

Dear friend
Thank your complement
Make no mistake
The basic is all we need
AND TO TALK TALK TALK
ABOUT " I-------------t "
were all in this horrible brain thing
that just sucks the life out of us
We need each other
I have no one to lean on
but for this group of people
who suffer like us and we "get"
each other
Love
Me

Cool Smirk

Yes bluesfan,

I know John Kirwan very well. One of the greatest All Blacks from a team at the height of their power in the '80s+. I have also heard of his battle with Depression.

I admire greatly one from such a background who has chosen to stand up publically and admit his Mental turmoil. It is a shame there are not more brave sufferers.

Dave.
