Thank you for your response Sue. I don't have them only waking up or going to sleep though, it's actually completely random and I haven't figured out a pattern or anything when they do happen. So I'm seeing a neurologist now, so I should see someone specifically for epilepsy you mean?> |

Hi lilchrissy,
You can see a neurologist to find out if you are having sz. but later on you might want to see an Epileptologist, this type of Dr. specializes in epilepsy and has more education in the field of epilepsy and can help people with epilepsy much better than any neurologist I've ever seen in the past 40 yrs. that I've had epilepsy. To find a pattern in your sz. get a calendar and write down what time you have a sz. along with a discription of the sz. Also be sure to take note if you are sick, or there's a low pressure in the weather, or if your hormones are changing (ex. monthly cycle) it's some of these things that can trigger sz. for a person. By keeping track of the sz. like this your Dr. may be able to see a pattern in your sz. I always have 1 week each month where I will have a bunch of sz. and then the rest of the month I'm doing pretty good. Things that can cause epilepsy are the following: head injury, trauma, difficulty at birth, lack of oxygen, drug or alcohol abuse, genetics or post tramatic stress. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You! Sue |

Sue,
Ok will do. Thank you for the advice. The neurologist believes I have scar tissue on left brain from a head injury I've had like 15 years ago where my skull, eye, and nose were fractured. I will update once I find out my results. Thanks again and God Bless! |

Hi lilchrissy,
I also have scar tissue on the right temporal lobe but I never had a sz. until I was 10 yrs. old as time went on I had more and more sz. that my Dr. couldn't control with any sz. meds (AED's) and this in turn caused more brain damage to the frontal lobe and left temporal lobe. I hope and pray that your sz. will be under control with AED's and then you won't have to worry about anything. Try taking vitamin C and Zinc or magnesium once a day this helps reduce sz. for some people. I wish you the best of luck and May God Bless You! Sue |

Well I received my results and they said everything looked normal, so I guess it's not seizures. They want an MRI done but I can't afford that especially with no abnormalities in the EEG. Thanks for all the help though.

There are times with others when nothing completely shows on a EGG. This did happen with me, but after they did the MRI, they came up with a solution to my problem. You may want to reconsider having one done. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

lilchrissy ........... I had EEGs of all sorts (over and over and over, including the one worn at home for 3 days) from 1990 until 2005 when a MRI which showed a tumor which had been causing the dreadful seizures and migraines........10 years!!
I hope and pray you can find a way to have the MRI. ![]()
