4 days spent in the hospital & very little was accomplished. After 3 hours of flopping around while awake I finally got hauled out. I vagually recall heat running down my face & I was told my hand had turned blue & almost black.
Ativan was given, one shot & nothing on the CT scan came back. They said they would keep me over night because something wasn't right. (Don't ya love that?) EEG was done second day, doses upped & 3rd day another Ct was done. The hand felt hot, frozen or slimy. It is still feeling like it is moving, although it doesn't & activity has not yet left.
I would think nerve damage possibly did the hand, or it may just be a new odd ball feeling during activity.
So in one week I'll be back to the family Dr. to prove I haven't croaked yet & get some copies since very little was told me.
I love those hospitals!

I'm so sorry to hear that you've been in the hospital. I hope things go better for you. I also had my go around with my epi last month after having an eeg done and a yearly check up only for the epi to tell me that he didn't bother looking at my eeg and then he tried to put me on new AED's knowing I'm drug resistant. I ask myself the question if maybe what's going on with you is a status cp sz. Often I will have a cp sz. and I have muscle spasms that I can't control for a few seconds. I'm aware and concsious during this time and maybe this is what's happening with you only it's a status cp sz. meaning it can last for hours if not days until enough seizure med is put into your system to stop the seizure. That is what I thought. Apparently, one Dr. doesn't speak w/ the other. I was such a mess w/ the activity but my family Dr was pretty sure I still had activity. No one offered ativan though.
I dug up some ativan last night, but activity still w/ me, but not as bad.
Obviously E.R. should have dosed me up w/ valium. They were told the acivity had been going on for 3 hours. Unless things have changed, status is when the flop is longer than 20-30 minutes. Maybe they can't do the math. I was walking & talking (somewhat) so I guess that was good enough.

Well Sue-

It appears that last dose (1mg) of my Ativan has not done the trick. Activity is not as bad, but still rocking. I'm sure my blood work for the dilantin will be toxic by Tuseday since it was 19.3 two weeks prior. That darn liver might keel me over first. ) Against my wishes I may have to call the neuro. & see if they can slide me in. I'm not due until early July.

I'm so sorry things aren't looking to good for you. Take my word I've had sz. meds become toxic on me more than once and it made me feel like I was drunk. I couldn't stand on my own I had to hold onto something or have my husband hold me up. When I took depakote I was having blood tests every week because 43 people passed away from liver failure. You might want to try taking 5HTP along with flaxseed oil. I have a friend whose had sz. for many yrs. and is drug reisistant so she started taking B complex vitamins, flaxseed, and 5 HTP and she hasn't had a single sz. in 2 yrs. I'm getting sick and tired of sz. meds and I'm going to give this a try myself. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!
