Has anyone ever experienced the tips of the finger peeling.
The skin on the tips of all his fingers is peeling off, almost similar to when youve been int he pool to long and you toes peel... Im wondering if this is med related? He has also been experiencing horrible stomach pains lately.....not all the time but evey once and awhile.. thanks K |

Hi K,
If I may ask what AED's do you take? I know when I was on lamictal I broke out with a rash and my skin itched like crazy. Come to find out I was allergic to the med. In regards to your upset stomach if you are having sharp pain in the lower right part of your stomach and it goes around to your back you may have a kidney stone or infection. This happened to me when I was taking tegretol xr and trileptal. If you are just getting sharp pains in your stomach every now and then you may have gastro problems from your med. This happened to me a few yrs. ago and the lining of my intestines was eaten up after taking mysoline for over 30 yrs. My Gastro Dr. had me drinking only hot tea no coffee or acidic food/beverages. I also had to stay on a low fat diet and eat a lot of vegetables. If the stomach pain continues I would see a gastro Dr. to be sure it's not your AED causing the problem. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You! Sue |

Hi K,
I'm glad to hear that your son is doing fine now. I also took depakote for many yrs. and it worked great controlling my absence and complex partial sz. I had to give it up after my body became immune to the drug and I wanted to let you know that you should watch for any bruises on your son because depakote can eat up the blood platlets and cause a person to bleed internally. My blood platlet level dropped one time very low and I had to be admitted into the hospital for my neuro. to monitor me for a few days. Here's wishing you and your son the best of luck and May God Bless You Both! Sue |

Hi K,
Depakote can cause a person to get a sunburn very fast. I had a 70 proof sunblock on and I ended up with sun poisoning, be very careful that your son covers up his skin in the sunny weather. Depakote also lowered my blood pressure to the point where it was 80 over 60 and my neuro thought I was in shock but I felt fine. Don't let you son take his med with any caffine or it will make him feel like he's had a little to much to drink. Also keep your son away from nutra sweet (aspartame) and splenda because these artifical sugars cause more electrical activity to the brain and can trigger sz. I found that out the hard way when I used to drink diet soda and had many more sz. My neuro told me to stay away from nutra sweet from that point on. Here's wishing you well and May God Bless You!
