Confused Lyrica Issues

Hi all. I'm new to the board. I was finally diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have been in pain for a long while. I thought it was in my head. I felt very alone. I found this board last night. It's nice to know that I am not the only one. I've been on Lyrica for over a month. Was wondering if any one else has had problems with it? I've noticed my feet constantly cramp, my legs feel like they are on fire all the time, I'm constantly dizzy, and I've been having problems with bladder control (when the urge hits me, I can't make it to the bathroom). To me, the Lyrica hasn't seem to help my pain at all. My Rheumotologist wants me to take Lyrica 2 times a day, Tylenol Arthritis up to 6 times a day, and aleve no more than 2 times a day if I need it. However, they don't seem to help. I family doctor gave me 15 mg Roxicodone to take every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain. The Rheumotologist doesn't want me to take it at all. However, it is the only thing that keeps the pain at bay. I've experience depression and some thoughts of suicide. If it weren't for my family, I wouldn't be writing this now. Has anyone tried Requip for FMS? Any thoughts on the Lyrica? Help.

I took Lyrica for another condition and its one of those drugs I'll never take again. I had swollen ankles, I gained about 30-35 pounds, and I experienced incredible anxiety while taking it. I had other issues with it, but I don't remember what they are at the moment. I think you should contact your doctors ASAP and tell them what you're experiencing or perhaps, go there. I don't have any thoughts on anything else, but I really think you need to see someone ASAP.

Lyrica - like any med - doesn't work for everyone. I don't know what dose you take, but it may not be enough.

I started out at 75 mgs, went up to 3 or 4 a day, then 150 mgs up to 3 a day.

At first it was like a wonder drug. It took a few days for it to work, but then, the pain was better and I had a burst of energy.

But by the time I got up to full dose, the energy was gone and I had a little swelling - ankles - and the pain was back full force. I tapered back off. Completely bummed. I had tried some 40 meds, and nothing was helping.

But though they think I have fibro they also think I have ms, and I have neck/spine problems as well. Not sure where the pain was coming from.

Have not tried requip.

If your other med helps - roxicodone - I'd say take it. Too bad what the rheumy says.

Good luck.

I was on 75 mg twice a day then 50 mg 3x a day then back to 75 twice a day. I have had the feet and leg swelling also...not bad though. I am going to keep taking my other meds--it is the only thing that helps.

Default Felt like killing self and anxiety

HI all, I'm new to the board too and I was put on Lyrica for fibro and diabetic neuropathies. I must say I have multiple illness plus use various other meds.

I noticed great dizziness (only on it 2 1/2 wks) and could hardly get up. I was getting some relief from the neuropathies but what happened to me is it made me feel like killing myself. They say to be careful when mixing with narcotics which I take too. I did not notice much of my CFS/Fibro pain disappearing though but it was starting to work its way into my system as I did notice I could decrease my pain medicine. I am so bummed about not taking it anymore. I am glad too I didn't continue due to the stories I have heard about much wt. gain. I had that happen once when I took Depokate for seizures. I was rather uncomfortable.

I hope I can find another drug to replace this and I am open to suggestions from anyone here.

Also, another reaction I had was I suffered from post nasal drip and could taste the drug in my throat and nose. It was a bad experience and I have never had this happen with other meds. before.

I would have liked to continue but the feelings of trying to hurt myself and the anxiety were just impossible to cope with. I'm lucky it left my body quickly. I do not know what would have happened to me if my caretaker did not realize the Lyrica was the cause. I just thought I was super- depressed.

I believe everyone could have a different reaction to this drug but I would use with caution esp. after reading the notes here.

Thanks for letting me chat and stay well.

I'm just so happy I found this board where people can share.

Good luck with your health.

hi there,

i have taken lyrica once and for me ......... well the spinning was just too much for me. i was dxed in 97 i think it was with ms as well however my neuro believes i have fibro as well.

i fell twice when i was taking it and the second fall was worse then the first.
the neuro who thinks i have fibro as well told me the only thing he felt would relieve my pain was massage and i am inclined to agree.
